Mud glyphs on the ceiling of an unnamed cave in the Southeastern United States. The cave ceiling contains thousands of individual mud glyphs. Using a 3d mapping technique called photogrammetry the nonprofit Ancient Art Archive [ancientartarchive.org/cave-art] discovered previously unknown pre contact Native American engravings which include life sized anthropomorphic figures from the Woodland Culture [www.ancientartarchive.org/arc...]. Produced in cooperation with the University of Tennessee with a grant from the Lyndhurst Foundation.

LOL what's with the very modern looking phallus at 0:30? Those glyphs are amazing though. Wonder what kind of story they tell. The cramped conditions make me wonder if it was some kind of ritual, each glyph made by different people doing the same thing and with the same meaning, but clearly different styles/levels of skill. I love the coiled snake!

well I suspect that a phallus of 1000 years ago and today look the same. but why wasn't it included in the final highlighted images? maybe it was done in modern times.

What interests me as well, are all the other glyphs that can be seen in the vid but not highlighted

Yeah, like the one next to the second highlighted section? Seems a bit more modern, but who knows? The urge to draw phalluses is probably as old as time.

Looking at those gave me the goosebumps. Can you imagine being alive since the beginning and everything we would have seen and KNOWN....🤯🌍🌏🌎✌️

I see different forms. The snake all coiled up looked like intestines to me. I imagine that during this period discovery was at the core of their existence. One of the Strawman figures looked like a burial image. Life, Nature and Death must have been supreme in their minds... This just blows my mind. I can almost visualize the individual resting, or hiding, when inspiration suddenly hits... Mind-boggling- yet fascinating.

I see other images in this walll, I have about three years to search images in stones in my country, I have a ton of stones in my house, to study those images...you can't see those images if you are not in some conditions, if you change those conditions, you see other images or you will see nothing... If there is some interest, I can help with some clues, if not, I return to study my stones alone ...

The phallus symbol is not mentioned. (Second set of images) It looks like it may have been added at a later date? Perhaps in the modern era?

Along with the red spray next to it. That's why the location is kept secret - the cave is on private property, not protected, vandals could easily trash it.

It's a hard one to date. It looks like modern dick graffiti, but a cock and balls still looked like a cock and balls in the neolithic period.

That's neat if that's a spiral I see(not highlighted) in the beginning at 0:15. They're all over the world, just like at Signal Hill, Arizona. Also, I think there's a bunch not highlighted at 1:10.

Why did they create these in such a short space? Wouldn’t they be unseeable by anyone but the artist?

I’m curious how far back in the cave this is ? & I’m assuming it’s on the ceiling ? I know it’s a digital render but wouldn’t there have to be smoke on the roof ?
@winsomemartinez

I just accessed this video from an article which explains that yes, there are remnants of charcoal on the floors and smoke trails on the ceilings of this cave. I understand that the height of the cave is only 3 feet in places and that people likely laid on their back to carve these into the damp mud ceiling.

Ahem.... @1:04, there appears to be a failure to false-color other aspects of the glyph, says me.

Exactly, there were tons of things they chose not to 'virtually highlight'. Including what looked very much like a dick drawing (slightly before they highlighted the first chosen glyph).

'mud glyphs' 'ancient art ...' perhaps, but help me here. about 25 to 28 sec. into this video is there not what appears to me to be a 'cock & balls'? something typical of modern-day human restroom graffiti. pls advise. thx!

I found some very similar almost identical in a cave in East Tennessee, I screwed up ruined a couple trying to cut them out so I could sell them. I found out you have to give lots of extra space when cutting them out and then trim them down when they are out of the cave..I have several more to cut out as soon as I find someone willing to pay my price. Message me if you want to buy them. I can send pics of them still in the cave and removed.

@@brianfritz4927 They are doing no good inside the dark cave where no one can see them. Plus, how else can I sell them? I would love to be able to get a couple of the larger ones out to see what they look like in daylight and then sell them. There is a lot of black soot from fires on some of the ones higher up.

@@willie0704 They would be doing good if they were preserved and studied like the ones in this video. plus, you don't need to sell them. These things are hundreds to thousands of years old and are some of the only remaining art from the natives. They shouldn't be ruined by some guy trying to make a little money.
@willie0704

@@brianfritz4927 They are actually very much like the ones in the video but different animals. The fish with legs is really odd looking. Then the thing that looks like a big odd shaped cow looks odd too. There are also some odd things that look like nothing. Maybe the indians were into abstract art, They are doing me no good back in that cave, the only things in there are bats and bugs. The cave is on my land so that makes them mine and if I can make a few hundred bucks each, you bet I will get cut them out. Why let them stay in the cave where they will never be seen by anyone but me? Not many people want to go up in the hills of Hancock county, TN There is nothing there. They roll the sidewalks up at 7pm on saturday nights.

@@willie0704 Your view of everything is way too narrow. You're not the only person who'll ever live on the land, they're only doing no good back there with you as the owner, and cutting them out to sell them is very selfish and damaging. I really can't tell if you're trolling me...

Someone's looking to make something out of nothing. I did the same thing as a kid looking at the clouds.
@frankwhite8536

I also used to be ignorant of what's going on as a kid. But now I'm a photogrammetrist that understands exactly what I'm looking at. This is real data, maybe false colorized, but you can measure the data point with lidar and photogrammetry. You probably could measure the clouds somehow, but they'll just move and your data isn't accurate anymore.
@EvanRobinson85

What an ignorant comment. Lol It's so obvious. Plus, the area the cave is in is well known to have Native American activity. Plus it has already been confirmed that those are in fact Native American Art.
