@@roseofthegarden_ They could have pardoned Jon after Grey Worm left, but I think that Bran doesn't because he believes that Jon will ultimately be happier beyond/at the Wall. Either way, his future is still open. Sansa can still pardon him to come back North. Arya will likely figure out that the world is round and come back from Essos and share the news with everyone. They literally saved his live with sending him away. Everyone seems to forget that there were still two kingdoms (Iron Islands and Stormsend) as well as a fucking big army loyal to Daenerys. The true north isn't a prison for Jon. It was the only place we see him in the whole series where he was close to happy. In winterfell he was an outsider, at the wall he was betrayed, Dany and his relationship was toxic at best but the wildlings stayed loyal to him all the time. They became his people the moment he let them trough the wall. I think of all the people in the series he actually got the closest thing to an happy end. He didn't want a crown, he didn't want to rule. And now he is back home.

He wanted to be there from episode one. LITERALLY. It was a perfect way to end things. Jon goes to The Wall - and beyond, Sanza is Queen of an independent and safe North BECAUSE her brother, Bran the Broken happens to be King of the realm to the south. Meanwhile, Arya’s out expanding the Winterfell kingdom discovering new lands (or so I imagine it). The Starks ruled at the very end, and Jon truly ended up where he wanted to, where he belonged.

@@KyleKleef ...And there's a good chance that Jon would end up ruling the Wildlings. If George R. R. Martin writes more GOT books, I would not be surprised to see the Wildlings elect him as their ruler. Thus, though their nation would not be in the "Winterfell kingdom", Bran still knows that Jon and the Wildling nation would forever have his back just in case something happens. Thus, Bran would also back Jon and the Wildling nation up in case something happens there. It's a win for both sides. Bran's choice to order Jon to the wall was based on logic. He knew Jon wasn't going to stay there.

She means a murderer. In Daeny's case, someone who will eventually turn on allies who could challenge her, no matter how loyal that ally may be- which Arya's correct about. Have you noticed Daeny's high turnover rate? Somehow, no matter how devoted her servant, they eventually end up dead. Either by Daey's order for "treason", or sacrificed for the "greater good" of keeping her alive/getting her what she wants. Arya was warning Jon that no matter how close he was with Daeny or how loyal, she would eventually find a reason to justify turning on him. King's Landing was not technically murder by Westerosi morals of war. The rules of medieval siege-warfare made it permissible to target civilians who didn't turn on their rulers and accept offers of surrender during a siege. The logic being that if they could've over-powered the ruling forces holed up in the walled city but didn't, then they were no longer neutral but actively participating. But you're right that line definitely would've been better used before King's Landing! Then Arya would've looked all cool and perceptive with her Jedi-like coldreading skillz. But that's season 8 writing for you.

Having a scene where Jon and Sansa are reading letters and making decisions about provisions for the winter or just any scene where they don’t fight, or have Jon and Arya talk about their various adventures over ale or something. Just anything to show that the Starks enjoy each other’s company because as it stands it seems like none of them are particularly that close. Looking back, as cringy as I found a lot of lines uttered by characters later in the series, I found Jon's comment to be more cringy than Arya's response. His comment proved that he's talking without acknowledging anything around him. How can he look at Arya and mention allies? How can he look at Sansa's attitude during all this and feel she'll be anything but rebellious going forward? Jon was the king of tunnel vision in the end.

But, Clarke didn't want Dany's last scene to be so abrasive, so, she asked if they could rewrite it in a way where she seemed somewhat childlike, Trust me, I felt the same. Even after she burned thousands of civilians, he still took a final attempt at trying to pull her back from the dark side, but it was too late for all that. She had officially crossed over for good. Hence the knife to her chest.

Podcast Emilia did with Dax Shepard: armchairexpertpod.com/pods/emilia-clarke Emilia- And its a really tough one too cause then, I don't know if you saw but at the end of the...my last scene I wanted to bring her back to season 1, I wanted to bring the energy back to season 1, I wanted to have her be this kind of like there's nothing then left to do but to be entirely hopeful and optimistic and ultimately deluded and just to try and bring back some of the open heartedness that she had but if you really look at her if you really look at what she's been through the fact that she's been on the run her whole life, she's been abused her whole life...she's been dealing with the weight of responsibility of carrying her family's legacy her whole life it has landed on her shoulders and she has decided to move forward with that....when it comes down to this thing of people started betraying her, people start to leave her, people start to devalue what it is that she made, shes killed people all the way up till this point and now someone's gonna turn around and say "uh maybe no" and it like she "I did this because it was like all or nothing I went all in and now you're telling me that I can't" and it becomes like it's own addiction, so that scene looking at the Bell tower right before she decides to just do it anyway, Miguel and I and the director had this huge discussion about it where it was like it was essentially getting to the mind of an addict who just your at bar and your holding the fucking drink in your hand and you don't want to fucking drink it but you can't help it because you're so damaged and so hurt and you're so vulnerable that there is nothing left to do, everybody has left you, there's my pitch. Dax Shepherd- yeah yeah I like it and I've been there and by the way when you're holding the drink you're like this is gonna fuck everything up and I don't care. Emilia- AND I DONT CARE . Dax Shepard- And I was like are they saying to us that it was just in her fucking genes, the dad was fucking nuts he was the mad king is that what were calling him? Emilia- Yeah. Dax Shepard- the mad king is the statement "oh no she was always gonna be that way it's in her blood" in the same way the Lannister's are. Emilia- No. Dax Shepard- but that's not it though. Emilia- but I don't think it's that, not at all, I think it's that...she was an orphan and she was raised by her brother who was clearly fucken her, literally, then we're sold like a slave to a huge warrior and she then... Dax Shepard: the most glorious warrior Emilia- the most delightful, gorgeous warrior you'd ever seen *laughing*. Uhm but was and from that found weirdly he taught her how to find strength within her own femininity and turn around and was like k how bout we do this differently and then went on and that legacy and wanted kids and then realized that she birthed dragons instead and was never gonna have them and then tried to fall in love then realized that it was never going to work and became this vessel for leadership for power and she's spent her whole life trying desperately to not be her parents and to be something different. Dax Shepard- and the jokes always on us were are parents. Emilia- there you go, but I think the result of what it made her do was not nothing to do with her parents, nothing to do with the mad king but everything to do with her going I have to prove that I'm enough, I have to prove that everything that I sacrificed up until this point is enough.

“I know a killer when I see one” would have been a good line from Arya as a trained assassin, would’ve been fitting with the character relationship had it not gone static … but it was very obvious by that point D&D. Also makes me think “man season 8 would’ve been so much more interesting if Dany actually had considered killing Jon” and given her purported madness, that would have made more sense than Jon very reluctantly killing his girlfriend for the realm.

There's a lot of sarcasm about Arya knowing who a killer is when she sees one. But let me interpret it this way for you: She is having a very Frank conversation with Jon. About revealing a little about herself to him. She's very subtly telling Jon that she's a killer too just as he is. Arya and Jon kill for very different (superficial) reasons, but they come from a common ground - justice. They kill for justice. Dany on the other hand hardly killed for justice. She killed for vengeance, to protect herself, and now she did it to attain power. So that people know who's the new boss in town. Arya just revealed herself to Jon indirectly. And Jon connected. Jon was not surprised as he was the one who gave her the nudge so many years ago by gifting her Needle. Jon never saw her fight (her training with Lady Brienne was only conducted in Sansa's presence). But Jon had heard she is a faceless man. Seeing the truth of that in Arya's eyes took him aback. But he didn't further give much thought to it. He had a problem. Dany. He vouched for her and she betrayed him. But Dany knows he also betrayed her. By telling his cousins about his ancestry. Dany presumed to know that he understood why she burnt the city. He betrayed her. She also didn't want to win the city without a fight. So she fought the people. She also wanted power. All her desires were fulfilled in this act. Thus, this serves as a warning to Snow to never betray her again. In her books, she has gained the upper hand and she indicates that she is in charge. She's the defacto ruler of Westeros. Or, the queen. Varys was right about her all along. And Sansa was right in not trusting her. And Tyrion right about feeling how he felt in the aftermath.

Well, Jon still fights against the very idea of killing Dany due to love for her after Arya says this in this scene. He still tries to rationalize Dany's actions. He doesn't make any decision (and when he does, it's a reluctant one at that) until Dany later says nobody else gets to choose at the end of their conversation a while after this. Had Dany agreed to show mercy to the people, Jon would have let her walk. Even afterward, Jon can't even bring himself to agree assassination was right and he can't forgive Sansa for telling his secret.

 @Cherylle Johnson Well, Jon didn't make Sansa tell the secret and he swore her vehemently to secrecy. Also, Sansa agreed to keep that secret, she had the option to step away and telling Jon, "No, I can't do this." However, Sansa made that choice on her own and is completely responsible for breaking her word. I don't see that any good came out of Sansa breaking her promise, and even worse, it could have led to a claimant war costing so many lives -- all over a claim he didn't want. If it was me, I don't think I'd ever trust that sibling again, even if I knew why she did it. I understand he still loves Sansa but... I'd definitely feel resentment if it were my sibling (and it has been my sibling in other kinds of circumstances). I think that's realistic though, familial relationships can be so fraught with that kind of stuff.
@raiamsultana2336
@raiamsultana2336 2 жыл бұрын
@@analise8031 "I'd definitely feel resentment if it were my sibling" Then you don't truly understand Jon's character (Although they did change his personality drastically towards the last seasons) Because, by your logic, Jon should also deeply resent his father/Uncle Ned Stark for lying to him his whole life. Whether he wanted the throne or not, Jon would eventually have to go against Daenerys to keep the North independent. That might or might not mean he would take claim of his birthright. The way Sansa is the only eligible Stark claiming the North. Despite the betrayals, the families of GOT, stick together. Jon knew Sansa's goals the moment they were reunited. He wouldn't resent her for keeping their family homes and lands the way Ned Stark did.
@analise8031
@analise8031 2 жыл бұрын
@@raiamsultana2336 I think I understand Jon's character well enough, a character whose arc seems to be about unity, and I think it makes total sense Jon would feel resentment for Ned as well (and _does_ feel resentment for Ned in the books when it came to finding out what the Watch truly was). Family members, even family members who love each other, can also feel resentment -- especially over things like this. Per the script, Jon does not forgive Sansa for this. And Jon was _not_ fighting for Northern independence, he was always about unity and trying to protect the realms of men -- all the realms of men. Jon doesn't have to agree with what Sansa wants or Sansa's causes and Sansa was kindling a claimant war by going against Jon's wishes, Jon's choice over what to do with _his_ parentage. Again, Jon was not fighting for Northern independence. Btw, Ned was not fighting for Northern independence either. He supported the current king of the 7K, Robert Baratheon, and was Warden of the North, as Jon was under Dany. Meanwhile, Sansa would still be Lady of WF under Dany had she not gone berserk. She'd still have the seat of Winterfell. Just because a family loves each other it does _not_ mean they have to be okay with everything the other does -- especially in GoT families. Where and how did Jon know Sansa's goals the moment they were reunited? They weren't fighting to retake Winterfell for the sake of Northern independence. Jon didn't even want to fight at all -- but Sansa convinced Ramsay really had Rickon and that's the only reason why Jon agreed. Sansa made Northern independence her primary cause when Jon was chosen king -- but Northern independence was never what Jon was fighting for or the reason he accepted the crown (which was to finally have the power to mobilize a defense against the Night King). Jon doesn't have to fight for what Sansa wants.

The one thing that really got me when this first happened, was how much people were surprised by Danny's murderous ... episode. Like, did you even watch her portion of the story? Sure, she originally and generally meant well, but she was still always a hair's breadth away from totally losing her shit.

It always had a reason behind it. Killing slavers, people who directly wronged her. There is literally, LITERALLY no motivation for her to kill the people of kings landing, they didn't wrong her or anyone else in any way. Cercei didn't care about them so she wasn't harming her through them. The excessive murder spree from her is feasible, the problem is that it's completely unmotivated! If the citizen were against her in some way, if they had the citizens say "Cercei the merciful! " or something when the bells wrung to spark her hatred of the common man at least there would be SOME REASON she had to do it.

Sad to see a person with the titles rightfully earned like Breaker of Chains and Mhysa or Mother driven to insanity. The people who killed her drove her to this point though it doesn't absolve her of her crimes. Sansa broke her oath, Daenerys was poisoned. Her confidants were killed. Her only remaining relative rejected her. Her dragons who were her children were lost. She couldn't even have a family of she wanted to. Seeing Missandei die in front her was the last straw that was her sanity the camel back. When she comes back to her senses I am pretty sure she would have been heart broken. For a person who killed the masters who strung up children on crosses and burned with righteous anger wouldn't have stayed heartless all the way. Literally every person of interest has killed somebody in this show. People forget that this world of GOT is a bloody world. And plotting to kill Daenerys happened before she killed innocents not after. So, Sansa, Tyrion, Varys and even Bran were just making a power grab. A few of them got it too. Would have been nice to see a Daenerys not loose everything and become the queen she had meant to be, the one who wanted to break the wheel not this empty shell driven to insanity.

What oath? Sansa never pledged fealty to her and never intended to. She quietly let Jon deal with that since he made the choice. Sansa telling made Jon see what she really is. The mask came off and had Jon does his job and vetted her properly before giving her away, there wouldn't have been any issues. And I agree she went through a lot but the difference between Dany and the Stark's, she chose this. No one forced her to come to Westeris to fight for the crown. She could've lived out her days as a Queen with all three of her dragons. You can't get mad and kill thousands because you lost people you love in a war you technically started.

Why would they do that? While they're being attacked? 2. She has never jumped that high before in any of scenes before-hand so where did this incredible superhuman ability come from? 3.
