From 1996 to 2003, Tendulkar and Ganguly were the most successful opening pair for India in ODIs and won many matches. But when Ganguly saw that Sehwag has the match winning potential to give a better opening with a higher strike rate, he got himself at no. 3/4 and made Sehwag open with Tendulkar. That changed the game for Indian cricket since then. You need a decision maker like Ganguly to build a match winning team

@@Girdharilal34604 Don't just say. Check his ODI opening record during India's tour of SA in 2001, Natwest trophy 2002 in England, and 2 hundreds in the ODI tri series in Aus 1999-2000. The 2002 NZ tour was a failure, but entire team flopped in that. He scored big but realized that Sehwag and Tendulkar can give a better strike rate.

@@Girdharilal34604 Tu pehle apne question mein consistent reh. Pehle bola SENA mein fail tha. Jab SENA ke records dikhaye tab bolta stats mat dikha. Ajeeb insan hai. Ganguly struggled against Shoaib only in initial days. You are only taking a comment from Shoaib's autobiography where he made some controversial remarks against him and Sachin only for publicity. After that he managed him well. Whatever you say doesn't matter. The fact is he was a great leader. He built a winning team. Groomed the right youngsters who eventually won 2007 T20 and 2011 WC for India.

Not necessarily, India's loss comes to mind in the final and ICC uploaded HD highlights when Travis head was batting hahaha. Pak played the way they usually do and this time talent did not get them through. They lack basic training and it doesn't hurt as much. Indians will remember the final's defeat till the end of time otherwise who cares if Pak made it to the super 8's or not. The lifetime frustration of losing in a final where the stadium was packed with Indians will never go away. They have to vent somewhere.

I was trying to point out this fact that, this statement about babar was wrong since even as captain he has the highest scores and while strike rate matters a lot but we do not have better batters. Frankly speaking Babar Adam and Many other Pakistani Cricketers that includes Batsmen as well as Bowlers are excellent Talents. Problem is not at all with the Players. Biggest problem/challenge with Pakistan cricket (including ex-cricketers) is that they have no clue how to root cause analysis. That is, to get to the root cause for the current state of affairs. These ex-cricketers turned analysts are just talking about symptoms. Same goes for the country as a whole.

The biggest mistake of babar is that he never scores boundaries but takes singles and gives strike to tail enders like abbas Afridi and expects them to play remaining 5 bals and score sixes
