The story of creation in Sumerians Enuma Elish begins with the primordial waters. Quran: - “He is the One Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days1-and His Throne was upon the waters” Quran 11:7 After Marduk's victory, he decides to create the world from Tiamat's body. He splits her carcass into two parts, forming the heavens and the earth. Marduk then organizes the cosmos, appoints the gods to their respective roles, and creates humanity to serve the gods. The belief that everything originated from water is associated with the ancient Greek philosopher Thales. Thales of Miletus, who lived around 624-546 BCE, was one of the Seven Sages of Greece and is often considered one of the first philosophers in Western history. Quran: - “Do the disbelievers not realize that the heavens and earth were ˹once˺ one mass then We split them apart? And We created from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?” Quran 21:30 In Genesis, the first chapter states that God created the heavens and the earth and the water in the beginning. God said, "Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water" (Genesis 1:6). Quran: - “He merges the two bodies of ˹fresh and salt˺ water, yet between them is a barrier they never cross.” Quran 55- 18 and 19 Therefore when the Arabs heard Muhammad saying his Quran they replied: “Whenever Our revelations are recited to them, they challenge ˹you˺, “We have already heard ˹the recitation˺. If we wanted, we could have easily produced something similar. This ˹Quran˺ is nothing but ancient fables!”
