As rains ease in central China, 3 million people still struggling with effects of deadly flooding

The official death toll from devastating floods that struck China’s central province of Henan was raised to 33 on July 22, 2021. Local authorities also said that more than 3 million people have been affected by the severe weather, which slammed the provincial capital Zhengzhou. Flooding caused by record rainfall over several days has started to recede, but residents have limited access to clean water, food, electricity as they cope with the devastation in their city.

Here in the Philippines it’s already one week of continuous raining but we are still lucky that we didn’t experience that kind of flood. We pray for everyone 🙏

Because rain is not the direct cause of the flood. China is addicted to building dams, they built tons of dams. Some of which broke which caused the flood you see in that city now.

@@Lu5ck Although quick urbanization is a factor of cause great loses, but what your said is not true. The base of yellow river at this area is average 7 m higher than the level of plain, so called river above ground, so government have to build dams to reserve water for drought season. The torrential rain is the most direct factor cause this disaster. This place like most of north part of China, most of cities are facing drought most of time instead of flooding. But the climate change moves the rain fall towards north, and cause more flooding issues than before. However, Drought still many problem for most days in a year.

In my area flood is not a problem. Since it's close to the ocean therefore there are lots of rivers flowing across my city. However tsunami is something that is concerning here. I guess wherever you go natural disasters always haunt you

Nope... this flood did damage to the food supply. But, your food crop is damaged. China can't continue to overbuild and hand out money that doesn't make a profit. And still, handle paying to rebuild many mass projects. In the last 3 years, that's what China has been doing. So they're losing money and going broke.
