And once again, I bring you another version of this classic theme song from "As The World Turns". This re-recorded edition of "The World Turns On and On" was used from 1985 until 1988. This is a version of it in better quality, but because I could not find the whole theme song without Dan Region talking over it, I decided to put all of my efforts and used different sources to put together an entire voiceover-free closing theme song.

Great job! Jack Cortner who made the edge of night 1976-1984 theme created this theme that was used by Elliot Lawrence Productions for As The World Turns. I believe the end credit sequence was a continual animated loop. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a non looped theme it would probably end the same way this version did.

Memories of grandma’s house during the day. All these years later and this theme has never left my head. I find myself humming it sometimes, not sure why. Permanent fixture.

Me too. I think of my mom, in the summertime saying “okay, it’s time for you kids to go play on the swing set, outside. My story is coming on”. Is sneak in and she’d be watching as this show came on and be there painting her toenails red, as she watched the show.

@@bjornregeer9859 Truly. The concept of killer or dramatic opening themes are being lost to the need for more commercial space - and it’s tragic! You need a “Take off” down the runway to get you jazzed for whatever story is coming; but I guess they feel I need to see ads for laundry soap instead.

Now THIS is the theme I loved best! The orchestration was much better than the previous version. Although I still miss the original 1956-80 version.

I was lucky enough to have had 28 years of life with my grandparents . At 5 yrs old I went to live with them. When I hear this theme music I fall apart because it puts right back to my childhood hood. I miss my grandpa’s so much.

Interesting tidbit people may not know: somewhere between 1988 and 1991 I called Proctor & Gamble to lodge a complaint about some food product, maybe a moldy frozen chicken pot pie (I think Banquet or Top Shelf must have been owned by a P&G food division), and during the hold music they played the dramatic updated 1988 version of this The World Turns On and On theme. I can't believe it now, how P&G was really supportive of their soap operas still at that time. To have it as hold music on their mainstream customer service phone number!

So many memories of this theme playing every weekday at 1pm. I didn’t start kindergarten until 1987 and was home with my mom who never missed As the World Turns. 🌎 reminds me of the carefree childhood you have before you start school 😁

Years ago my uncle used to watch this soap opera and i remember this theme song to it and it takes me back to the 80s hearing this. And i also remember the theme songs of young and the restless bold and the beautiful as the world turns and guilding light.

Sir… when ATWT had a cast member ill or called for a family emergency, the announcer would say: The role of (insert character name) will be played by (insert actor’s name). I must definitely not forget THAT! Understudies are very critical to a soap opera’s survival on TV. Kenneth A Huang 8/22/22

I remember my uncle used to watch this soap opera along with young and the restless bold and the beautiful and guilding light back in the 80s and this theme song takes me back to the past. He remembers mrs chancellor from young and the restless but i also remember josh reeva and dylan from guilding light i haven't seen guilding light nor as the world turns in a long time.

In the late 80s Procter & Gamble must have had some relationship with Nabisco, because a lot of ads for Nabisco products were thrown into As the World Turns at the time. If there had been one for Honey Maid, it would have made sense to show a marshmallow being toasted to make s'mores over a candle alongside chocolate bars. I know they have promoted how to toast marshmallows in the oven, but a candle alludes more to Procter & Gamble's roots, and this would have been a sensible time for Procter & Gamble to bring back its Star candles and have them in supermarkets alongside Honey Maid graham crackers, Hershey's chocolate bars and Jet-Puffed marshmallows.
