You have to teach children what to do. I raised 2 children but I had no problem with written up walls, that is what paper is for. Give them something to do rather than allow them to just run up and down the house, that is how things get broken. You have alot of room outside or a space in side where they can play. It is not as hard as you making it, children need to know that no really means no.

The projects are not for you. The idea is that the parents do it with the kids. Doing these projects with the kids will encourage them and teach them to be creative. It does not serve the child if the parents do the project without getting the child involved.
