Video footage taken in mid-February ahead of the 10th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami features an interview with Takahiro Sato, one of the pilots who make the Japan Air Self Defense Force acrobatic flight team Blue Impulse. Sato, now age 35, was at flight school in Nara when the disaster struck, destroying his hometown of Yamada, Iwate Prefecture, and claiming the lives of several old classmates and neighbors. After continuing his training, Sato was able to aid the morale of his community in September 2019 by piloting one of the Blue Impulse aircraft that overflew the Rugby World Cup match held at a newly built stadium in nearby Kamaishi, also in Iwate Prefecture.
