When I heard this song I first thought of a few struggles I had during childhood that I can't quite get away from now. Often I can. I was abused as a kid and ran to the one who did it on my own school playground. I ran to the very one causing the most pain in my life at the moment. I still can't grasp all of it and struggle with the stress. To escape some the hurt I still had inside I often ran to the next night of drinking to get drunk, a sex friend or relationship not meaning to satisfy or truly love. In college I became a Christian and my thinking about life and making it through greatly changed. I need to continue to preach the gospel to myself daily and believe the gospel deeply. When I run now, most of the times it is for different reasons.
