This is the scene that occurs soon after the Cazador fight, while you're heading out to leave the area. In this playthrough Astarion finished the Black Mass, a rite sacrificing many lives, gaining a great deal of power by becoming an Ascendant Vampire. This scene, like most of the game, was done due to the excellent work of the technical team&crew as well as the cast for both mocaping and voice acting.
What's worth pointing out is that, as can be seen, if Astarion is Ascended he will be attack by the Gur no matter what, only difference is whether you side with him or not.
