once you find the dullness the patient rolls on the opposite side, not the same side , then you see if the dullness is still there ,, if it is then its not shifting , if dullness is not present then then its positive for shifting dullness ....

unfortunately "confidence" does more to pass exams (and possibly screw over future patients) than does actual concern, if it comes across to examiners as being too circumspect or hesitant. Utterly disgusting!

The patient should roll over towards you with the point you detected dullness being on top. This would allow fluid (if it was there) to move through below and if there was no dull sound anymore - suggestive of ascites.

Wrong technique, when u find the location of dullness by percussion u must keep putting ur finger on that area and the patient turns to the opposite side and percuss on the same area where u kept ur finger on to feel if the fluid fhifted to the other side or not

first semiflex the knees......so that abdominal muscles relax...otherwise difficult to perform due to guarding

I'm 16 and a virgin so therefore I am not pregnant On september after my period I ended up at the ER due to vomiting and a Urinary Tract Infection and now I missed my period I was suppose to get it the 1st of this month on the second week I stained myself and it was blood and then the next day came and it went away and from there I started leaking from my area and staining my pants all wet and peeing cloudy and its october 20 and now im experiencing Severe bloating I gained weight and from my waist and I can't sleep at night due to feeling really heavy at night . I need help I can't figure out what it is .can it be ascites ?
