I know its just a show but I love how a heracross a bug type beats a fire type like magmar with a not very effective mega horn plus it took a fire blast earlier, then muk using sludge bomb on a steel type like scizor but yet it was still dodging for whatever reason even though its immune, and then you have charizard get affected by magnitude even though charizard is immune to ground type attacks, but they also did have pikachu one shot brocks geodude with a thundershock so I think logic was kind of thrown out the window here

Pikachu one was kinda illogical I know, but heracross crit the Magmar and Scizor...,abilities don't work in this anime,charizard got affected by magnitude as it was on ground.

Nah, the game has the turn based mechanics and damage calculation. The anime on the other hand has a free combat mechanism where the pokemon can battle in the field doing what ever they can and the damage calculation don't matter because the power level do not count based on numbers.

@@totallynotzapadasolvia5646 yeah I know its just a show and dosnt really follow the game rules I was pointing that out because I just thought it was funny, plus there are immunities in the later seasons, and charizard getting affected does make sense in the anime because he was on the ground but my point is flying types are immune to ground type attacks but realistically they need to be flying in the air for that to make sense, I don't think type affectivness matters much in the anime because heracross realistically shouldn't of survived those fire type attacks but it's the anime so it dosnt matter and megahorn one shotting if it's not considered a bug move and maybe considered a normal move it one shotting makes sense

You have to understand also that anime battles are way different than video games. Starting from the fact that there's no turns to attack and the attacks and types behave differently, so no surprise why a bug(fighting) type can resist a fire attack and beat Magmar

Ash is dumb. If it was a game, not anime, he wouldn’t have any chance to win this. First thing, he took two normal types. Why? He should take Pikachu instead of Tauros. Second thing is using Heracross against Magmar, really poor decision, but Heracross won somehow. But most idiotic decision was choosing Muk against Scizor (when he had Charizard still in party). Poison against steel… Of course it’s anime and he had plot armor, but in fact only Snorlax was used here in proper way. At this moment Gary should have easy win, he had multiple options to choose his party while the only options of Ash, except this 5, were Pikachu, Squirtle, Noctowl, Quilava, Bulbasaur and Totodile. Really poor, not fully evolved Pokemons didn’t have any chance against Blastoise, Nidoqueen or Arcanine.

It's the anime, type advantage barely matters, and Heracross could've had the guts abillity. Ash's Tauros is really strong. Ash chose Muk against Scizor because Muk absorbs phsyical attacks, but Ash didn't know that Scizor had Swift. Plot armour didn't come into play at all, it's just luck that Gary decided to extinquish the flames He's not dumb for this party choice, you are just a kid.
