As I sit here in Charlotte NC USA with a tear in my eye watching this it brings back many great memories to me. I walked that golf course with my Dad when it was all clay. I specifically remember walking to the 5th green and looking in 10 year old bewilderment at the mud and wondering how would this ever become a golf course and would I ever get to play it? Well I was one of the first junior members there, I played in the first ever junior competition there, I was on the team that won the first ever silverware from there. The fabulous summer of 1995 that we all remember so well was spent there. Lifetime friendships were formed on those fairways and it was great to get home last week and play there 5 days in a row. I got a golf scholarship to America in 2001 and went on to win a college event in America and turned professional in 2006. I won 14 times as a professional and each time I won Ashbourne was never far from my mind. I caddied for a decade on the LPGA and PGA Tours for players such as Laura Davies, Michelle Wie, Len Mattice, Mike Weir and others. I retired in 2016 and am now back playing full time amateur golf. I finished 4th a couple of weeks ago at The Connaught Mid Am in Athenry my first competitive event in Europe in 12 years. I love this place and loved the video. I wish you offered an over seas membership as I would avail of it. I miss everyone and am counting down the days until my next pint in the bar and round there with my dad.
