Hey Vikings! In need of some second monitor material? I wanted to have a casual world set up for when Ashlands comes out and I invite you on the journey to get there! I've got combat set to hard (for at least the first 6 biomes), deaths are allowed, and I generally have a fun, casual time of it. I do a little building and decorating, and the usual amount of slaying. I proceed through the game in my typical fashion but I shift my approach in the Mistlands to more of a completionist mindset, desiring to have fully upgraded EVERYTHING from the Mistlands in order to be amply prepared for when the Ashlands drop!
This playlist: • Ashlands Prep Run - Fu...
PSA: At the time of this recording NOBODY knows when the Ashlands are going to drop, but I WANNA BE READY!

Thread, please don't consider your content 'second monitor material.' For me, it's not just background noise; I actively watch and thoroughly enjoy every video. Your humor and personality shine through, elevating it beyond mere background entertainment. I eagerly anticipate each video, eager to get comfy on the couch and fully immerse myself in the fantastic worlds you create. Your relaxing commentary and uniquely enjoyable play style add an extra layer of charm that makes the experience even more special. Keep doing what you're doing - your content is a delightful escape that deserves full attention and appreciation!

I just started a new world for Ashlands, and happened to get recommended this video kinda randomly. You are so skilled at this game and have a lot of knowledge about it which is apparent immediately. I have learned so many things watching this playthrough and how you handle all the enemies is crazy. Very enjoyable to watch. Hope you keep going with stuff like this.

Love the thumbnail so much! I'm so excited for this series. I don't have a favorite type of content from you - it's all exceptional in its own way, but since this is more my playstyle, I'm super invested in how you prepare for ashlands. I got home from work and watched 4 hours straight. Can't wait for the rest! ❤

Put simply, if this were only second monitor material then I would have not caught the "Door Strats". I have 3 monitors, however when i watch your vids like you I may take a break but I pause the vid and come back to it. I'm never watching your material while doing something else because as i was saying i would miss something cool or funny. Even when you are on the water for hours on end. You are constantly interacting with your audience as if we are there with you. Keeping someones attention for more than 10 seconds these days is a feat in itself and you manage to do it for hours. Keep up the great work.

New to your channel as well as to Valheim. Loving watching you play and how easy you make it look to a newb like me that sees a troll as an actual threat lol. Can I ask, why when you are running around like crazy, do you not use the Eikthyr buff to conserve stamina? Just something I noticed and wasn't sure if it wasn't needed or if there was another reason. Looking forward to watching the rest of your vids,, thanks a ton

Hey, welcome, and thank **you**! Great question. I really should use it more. Back in the day when there were only 5 biomes and I was doing a lot of speedrunning it was imperative to save it almost exclusively for running up mountains and I trained myself to almost never use it, lol, especially when the focus is on the first two or three biomes. Again, I should use it more but also I tend to loosen up with it a tiny bit once I'm later in the game. Old habits die hard

Epic Loot is the main one. Creature Level and Loot Control (CLLC) is what we used for higher mobs. A few others we used are Plant Everything and I think we used Seed Totem. Henrik and I recently did tons of work on the config files for Epic Loot with the express purpose of it being played on "very hard" combat settings without using CLLC and if you use this code in Thunderstore or R2Modman you should get our settings: 018c4b7a-0615-bf7f-70ef-4788ab93681d You'd wanna create backups of the enchantcosts loottables and magiceffects json files for when Epic Loot updates, as all of those that we changed will get overwritten otherwise.

So, the reason why you weren't picking that stuff up at 3:27:40 is due to the fact that the game will actively NOT pick stuff up that you have thrown out of your inventory recently. If you have auto-pickup turned on, but you're near something you actively threw out of inventory, the game will essentially say "hey, you wanted to get rid of it, so we're not picking it back up, so if you want it, you have to actively choose to." It's rather useful when you're doing strip mining or deforestation in the game because then you can condense everything into stacks and throw the stacks into one place for later, but usually, those times you're going to go overweight, and that's why auto-pickup doesn't pick up those full stacks of materials. But when you won't go overweight and auto-pickup doesn't seem to be working, it's just because you threw that stuff out and the game wants you to actively choose to grab that stuff again. Edit: This series is making me hope that you won't use any speedrun strats in a "normal" playthrough. No troll mining or troll tree cutting, etc. I dunno, just something satisfying about seeing a cheesy speedrunner do things the "intended" way makes the happy brain chemicals go brrrrr.

Let's see, this is episode 1 so we're talking about Eikthyr? If Eikthyr 1-shots you you're not at full health or not eating the right food (or the host/admin was messing with console commands or something and made everything too powerful). Something probably worth noting is that i have thousands of hours in this game and have fought Eikthyr literally hundreds of times. He'll very rarely hit me twice in close succession and in this vid i'm on double meat, single stam foods and i'm rested which provides good health regeneration over time. If you provide details i'm happy to respond with details

I've gotta say I appreciated this content but I feel the need to express one aspect which led to a sense of *minor* disappointment: you said you weren't going to 'speed run' through it, but your every behaviour in the early part (the "flint age") was exploity and hurried. Building things rapidly just to get the highest 'rested buff' without any concern for the aesthetic or immersivity utterly broke the illusion that you may experience any enjoyment of this part of the game. I absolutely understand how 'blasé' you might have become about it all, having started several hundred times before, but you did say you weren't going to rush through it.
