This is kind of beyond incredible. I sincerely love how you work with the bones of the older home you have and make things look fresh without it being unattainable. Most people have homes and are working with budgets like yours. Holy smokes I'm blown away! Beautiful, excellent job!

I’m so glad you actually put grout in those vinyl tiles. I just watched a couple BATHROOM renovations, you know, where it gets wet. And people were using vinyl just stuck down. Like water is gonna get allll up under those and be so nasty and start popping up. This is nice because it really is a lot more permanent

I'm concerned that they didn't place anything underneath the vinyl panels to protect against water damage. This is a wet area, it's going to suffer moisture damage.

Get a bottle of Corn Huskers lotion. Before you paint or glue put on some lotion, your hands will clean right because paint and glue won't stick... And your hands will stay soft.

When we redid our kitchen we also found multiple layers of laminate overtop of WOOD floor of all things. We ended up filling the nail holes and keeping the wood because it was still in good condition

I had 3 layers of laminate in the kitchen and 2 layers of tile in the bathroom I found when remodeling my house. I was blow away that people actually tiled over tile.

Love what you did here to create such a lovely laundry room, making such a pretty space! Removing the doors to the cabinets and making open shelves makes the whole room look larger and more interesting. We love the idea so much and are going to turn our cabinet into open shelves tomorrow. What a perfect, inexpensive solution! Thank you!

I'm LITERALLY at a standstill until Lowe's gets the Obsidian Peel and Stick tiles back in stock! I LOVE these tiles, I have them in a bathroom. I added extra adhesive (like you did) on the back, spaced and grouted them. Holy cow! They look exactly like real tile but for a fraction of the price. So glad to see someone else use them, too! Great video!

The black air conditioning vent on the floor is a little bit of an eye sore! Would it be possible to change it for a white one or spray paint it white? I honestly think it will make a big difference.. But of course it’s your home so if you are happy with it then that’s cool..

Love this, it turned out beautiful! One question, have you considered hanging your broom, mop, and duster on hooks inside your tall cabinet? I like to hide the tools and utensils used for cleaning, so I thought I'd pass that along. Great job!

Such an amazing improvement! The only thing I'd probably do differently is take down the wallpaper rather than just paint over it. Down the road, the paper could start lifting at the seams and then you'll have to take it off and repaint. But, that's for another day, right? lol.

If the wallpaper is put over primed walls it comes off easy. If it is not it is a bear to take off.

Hi Hughes family! We are starting this project today and we’ve seen a few warnings in bold not to use extra adhesive under the flooring. How is yours holding up?? If you did it again would you use the extra adhesive again? We are unsure if we should buy it or not!

I prefer to use a rag when I stain too. Brushes are too streaky.

Probably why waste material . Im sure that will always be the laundry room and with washer and dryer they have to stay in that spot. I wouldn't have done under washer and dryer jmo

It seems to me like the washer and dryer are slightly elevated from the rest of the floor? Like on a platform. I don't think I would have done the vinyl under there either, but i see why some would like it to be uniform throughout the room.

I thought the same thing. If you're gonna do it, do it right. Seems like a wasted effort to do all that when pulling the washer and dryer and doing the floor there too would have been only a little bit more work. Especially if you ever sell, that's a noticeable difference that could cost you resell value and the new owners a lot more work if their washer dryer set is different or they want to update.

At 5:19 you can see that the washer and dryer are raised up. Looks like they’re sitting inside some sort of built in cabinet deal. I think the flooring ends where they stopped!

Taking out and reinstalling washers and dryers are a royal pain in the a** lol maybe that’s why they decided to leave it? Also, in my last house they said that there is usually a liner or unfinished floor underneath them due to any potential water issues. I’m no professional though, so who knows 😂🤷🏻♀️

Those floors look amazing! I'm so glad you took up the 6+ (I lost count) layers of prior floor - something that drives me nuts when I watch DIYers put another layer on. But I've always been a firm believer in doing things the right way the first time even if it will add on time in completing the project. You guys did a great job remodeling this room. I wish I was capable of this level of DIY on my own.

I was wondering this! Move them & do the flooring or add a plank of wood underneath them. My washer & dryer are on the floor & move around everywhere (i guess cause theyre old as dirt) lol but it would be nice to have them in a sectioned off place like you see nowadays in newer homes. Heard its also better for flooding etc. too

I'm shocked that back door actually opened with how far the machines stuck out. I actually liked the cabinets over the appliances. I want as much storage space as possible. Also, I have cats so anything that goes on open shelves will end up on the floor. Can the floor tiles be butted up against one another with no grout? My cats would love those wicker baskets. They would shred them, knock them out of the cabinets, empty them, and then sleep in them. LOL. The end result looked nice!

Looks really nice, but I would have left the top as a folding table, just. Seems too much on the top. Very pretty. A lot of hard work.👍👍👍😊😊
