In this situation my Learner did a brilliant job, but everyone seem to point the finger at me and my pupil. Apparently I'm getting reported!
Update: I did get reported! A privacy complaint was made to KZfaq and the video was taken down. Here is the whole video again but with blurred faces and disguised voices. I also have a look at some of the good comments that were made on the last upload and what we discovered in hindsight.

@@maselm I’m pretty sure driving instructors have a lot less of ulterior motives than politicians, running an entire country is exponentially different when compared to simply preparing someone for a test. Point is, if something is dangerous a driving instructor isn’t going to encourage a pupil to do it bc they won’t pass, not passing quickly=bad reviews, bad reviews=no customers, no customers=business fucked, pretty obvious is it not? I drive a 44 tonne artic and I've had this same situation. I passed the light on green and about half way through the roadworks was a small side road that wasn't signal controlled. The lady in the car pulled out of that side road but she obviously hadn't looked to see which way the traffic was flowing. We both stopped and she demanded that I reverse the 400 yard back to the traffic lights to let her out. This is clearly not a safe thing to do and I refused. She ranted for a good minute and so I put my kettle on to make a coffee. She then proceeded to call the police and was promptly charged with careless driving. Karma😎

If you act like this in public, then I wonder do you also act this in an interview, at your job, at home? In public, you need to not do stupid things - keep them at home in private. If you don't want to be shown to the world how stupid you are, don't act stupid in the first place. Same goes for being nice to people, if you're nice you'd prob won't be that famous anyway tbh - as it usually won't be on the news.

@@gordondry What do you mean you “ they like to re-inhale carbon dioxide to become duller”? Pedestrians passing bye you could well just be walking for exercise and always wearing a mask to prevent breathing in the exhaust gases caused by a line of stationary vehicles which sounds pretty sensible or they may think that people are filming and want to hide their identity which is their prerogative even though there is no right of privacy in a public place. You are very much mistaken if you think that wearing a mask causes a buildup of CO2 and impairs your health and you can do a simple experiment by yourself a blood gas analyser eclipse on your finger and gives a reading of the amount of CO2/oxygen in your blood set wearing a mask and see how long it takes for the CO2 in your bloodstream to increase significantly i.e. by more than one or 2% then do a Google search to see what a healthy amount of CO2 actually is.

@@carlchapman4053 The instructor told the student on approaching the green light to "slow down as these have detectors as well" which he didn't, the instructor also told the student "don't try to make it" which the student also ignored, as the light had turned to amber before they reached the stop line it would of been safe to stop as the car behind which ran the red was a safe distance behind. I guess that was the instructors car so would of been dual controlled in which case the instructor failed to take control of the car to stop his student from breaking highway code rules on amber lights. It was obvious that the car in the opposite direction did run their red light in which case this is a 50/50 blame. Thinking back to my own experience learning to drive, how useful it must be to have the in car recordings that can be used to 'debrief' your pupil. This wasn't possible when I learned to drive last century! Perhaps because I have been driving for over 40 years I find these videos of yours, and other driving instructors, very interesting and like to think that I can still learn. You both handled that situation very well, theres no need for the others drivers to act like that. TBH Ashley when you where analysing your video, I personally would have prepared to stop as soon as the temporary traffic lights turned to Amber in my opinion. The reason I Say this is my Driving Instructor 15 years ago told me it means prepare to stop. Although on the theory test it says "Amber: Stop. If you have already crossed the stop line when the amber light appears or are positioned close to the stop line where stopping may be dangerous, you should proceed" I do agree with you that some of those drivers jumped the red light and some of them could of came out of the side roads and driveways. The Geriatrics in the Ford that was arguing with you and Jacob need to grow up and have a bit of consideration for learner drivers. They need to remember they was learning once but had it easy because there was no theory in the old days. As for the Karen lol high profiled job? she only drives a Corsa.

On my first watching of the video, I thought the same "ooh, yellow light, bit dicey" but, looking back over it with the review, inexperienced driver, plus the car behind, going through was the right call, as they could have easily caused an accident by slamming on the anchors at that point. That was my only quibble at all though. Everything else was clear cut, especially from a few moments later when it was clear the first two cars encountered had run the lights at the other end (must have to have been that far through given that the light had only just changed at the near end). Thank you for putting this back up complete with the rear view as it does show that taking the option to stop before the stop here sign would likely have caused the following driver to have skidded after locking their brakes as they would have had to perform an emergency stop themselves. That would have only been a fraction of a second between them not piling into the back of your car and ending in a crash. As I know about drivers who do not regularly practice doing an emergency stop and I only know one person who does that, and that would be me, I can assure you that the following driver would most likely have not managed to stop before connecting with the rear of your car so your reaction time in assessing your learners ability to stop before the sign was correct and bang on as teaching your pupil to drive. I agree with you that the most likely scenario would be that at least two of the drivers had entered from side roads because they saw no other oncoming from their right and took a chance that the other end light had already gone to green but failed to take any notice of the time it took them to reverse into the available spaces there by compounding those drivers who had probably come through a green light in thinking they had right of way. The issue here is that the drivers who thought they had it right but did not take any consideration of how much time had already passed but I could not see whether there was sufficient view along this far too long set of roadworks and as we see from the video those that did not reverse out of the way only compounded the problem as they could be seen having to wave people who had started on a green light which was sequencing behind us. Your analysis was good and as your pupil passed his test he had obviously listened to his instructor. Can I ask that you add into your course a recommendation that you teach your pupils to find some empty roads where they can practice emergency stops at least on a weekly basis. This will teach them how to brake without locking the wheels, especially in wet conditions, and this will give more experience so there will be less back end shunts and our insurance premiums will begin to drop. Got to admit that when I was learning I stalled at a set of traffic lights when they went green on "accident" due to the driver behind me following way too closely and started to beep his horn in a road rage way and managed to pull away safely just before the lights went amber safe to say the male Karen had no choice to stay for a second dose of waiting lol, my learning instructor gave me a grin and said well done you composed yourself very well, and that gave me a smile and a massive confidence boost the rest of the day lol

Hehe, I had someone who decided to be a showoff at a traffic light and was reving his engine as if to signal he was going to spurt out in the same direction as us when we had a green. It was a traffic-flow regulated light so it probably turned green sooner than he expected and since he was making faces towards my instructor as if to signal "I'm going to give your learner a fucking jump-scare!!" he didn't notice it in time and when we started moving he panicked when trying to get into second gear and stalled. My driving instructor first laughed out loud and then became silent and said "What an idiot!" and since I didn't really notice what had been going on he explained, and ended with "Those people are bound up to either meet the wrong person someday who will not give them the space they tried to claim, or will end up folding themselves around a tree because they fly out of a curve."

"What happened first of all, do you know?" "No idea" Brilliant question to ask in that situation. Nice advocating for your students as well! I love how angry these people got at being delayed, but due to an inability/unwillingness to fix the actual problem, they did nothing to solve it, and got more delayed.

There's one thing you have mot mentioned in your video ( I agree with all you said ) is that the vehicle behind you must have gone through the light when on red or at the point of change and also the amber is a warning that they are going to change to red which means stop but he totally ignored the amber and red light.

I'm learning to drive on my motorbike right now. If i was appoching this light system i'd always be prepared to stop if it's on geen. I wouldn't jump though an amber mostly as i'm learning to do defensive riding. People will always wanna jump when they can & sometims the light isn't always setup properly. I'd just perfer to wait but i'm on a bike so a bit diffrent. I just don't wanna face a car with no escape route.

I noticed that she was the instigator of a breach of privacy (doesn't exist on public areas) by taking a video/photo from her phone in front of the driving school car, as for the muppet who said "pack of lies" I hope he now knows that he is a muppet, all dash cams footage look faster than the speed actually is, this is due to the lack of panoramic view as opposed to eyesight and the camera is fixed and rigid. There are other factors to take into account as to why it seems faster but not required here for explanation. Top shout Ashley.

I like it how Ashley is able to explain the situation to the other drivers in a calm and inoffensive way, yet he is very fair and has the guts to be blunt with anyone who deserves it. A lot of people get far too hot under the collar in the car and its refreshing for seeing someone just be calm and logical.

@@p1kkuma in the eu you generally can get your license at 18, 17 if you're driving with you parents (like literally ALWAYS with your parent in the passenger seat) or at 15 if you're a foreigner in france. also I guess she looks like a high profile minor miner on reality tv, who shows people how it's like to have had 5 children before turning of age.

I used to get this all the time when I was driving lorries, and I'm sorry but, most of the time it was women and old people. They have all the attitude required to force themselves into those situations, but none of the ability to get themsleves out of it. So they go on the offensive to cover their shame by putting it on you. I gave up HGV getting on 13 years ago, because there were just too many dickheads on the road, even then. The same reason I quit riding motorcycles after 30 years, too (except there, one of them got me. Torpedoed on a roundabout by someone who thought if he went fast enough, he could phase through me at the molecular level). That's why I like your channel, you're actually trying to do something about that. All power to you Ashley. Keep up the good work.

Makes sense. The town by my Uni has a big road through it and one of the permanent light crossings is just silly out of sync. It will sit on red when there's no cars, it's a one way junction and there can be no cars for miles coming down before it changes green. Countless times i sat waiting just incase because its a nasty corner to see around and all of the times it's been dead clear long before the light changes.
