As Arab we have kunafa very frequently, you can even find ones with Nutella nowadays. It’s especially consumed during Ramadan season.

@JayBird2275 ай бұрын
@@CJHBehRamadan is a month all about fasting for religious and worship purposes like the user above me explained, and good food has become a theme as well since we break the fast with really good delicious hearty meals as well as tea and dessert time afterwards. It’s really special not just because of the food dedication but the whole worship atmosphere is something different!

I had kunefe (the Turkish spelling) when I went to Istanbul with my late husband in 2016, and I LOVED it. Need to find a Mediterranean place around me that serves it.

The kibbeh should be hot. It's okay cold, but it's even better hot. My family makes huge batches for christmas and there are no leftovers when christmas dinner is done. 😂

Speaking of sweet cheese, you need to try the Norwegian brown cheese brand is “Sky Queen”. It’s a mixture of Cow and Goats milk and it tastes like caramel! I’m 100% addicted to it! You’ve been warned

The meat and rice you eat hot with a cold white yogurt as topping. You can also add cucumber to the yogurt with some salt and garlic.

Hey Ashley, I live in Egypt, and the food is very similar. the seasoning on the bread is a very different taste and nix of spices. You need to try foul, tameeya, baladi salad, white cheese an tomato, koshari.

Everythung is best warm/hot, except for the salad. Knafeh is the best!! The hashweh and kibbeh are best warm and eaten with plain yogurt.

Most of this food comes from the southeast of Türkiye with some arab influence. The coffee doesn't look like turkish coffee and the künefe doesn't look well made at all it is supposed to be golden brown. The skin of the içli köfte (kibbeh) is too thick and the rest of the food also looks dry,old and not well made at all. I am sorry you had to eat those in reality they are much more delicious.

As a Turk I’d say that these aren’t too bad for the representation of some of our foods. (Yes ım aware that some of these dishes are generalized and eaten in the whole Mediterranean and sometimes Middle East too). The künefe (q-neigh-fe, fe read like the fe in fell) seemed decent though the portions here are usually slightly smaller and cut into squares though there’s no specific tradition for that. The football shaped one is something we call içli köfte and usually it’s served warm. (I too don’t like it cold) the name roughly translates to stuffed meatballs even though the meat is inside and it’s not a meatball. And the salad roughly resembles a shepherds salad (Çoban salatası) a fresh salad made with tomatoes onions cucumbers peppers sometimes parsley is also added and its mixed with lemon salt and olive oil before being served. Overall this isn’t bad representation but could be improved. Maybe other food bought from a more authentic place if wanted.
