The prank show genre doesnt work as good as it used to. Most people know about punk'd/pranks and are more desensitized to seeing celebs in general. This was like a golden era for it to be such a huge hit. You would have to wait to celebs come on TV to see them, now they are a click away. Jamie kennedy experiement was better imo but people started to recognize him after a season.
