I think Benjamin Wallfisch has a very recognizable style. While watching Shazam, i didn’t know that he composed the score, but i guessed he did. But IT is his best of the ones I’ve heard (although A Cure for Wellness is pretty awesome as well).

When you said this score was one of your favourites, I was like really!? But then after having listened to the whole video, I must admit it made me appreciate it much more! I guess I’ll give another listen to the score 🙂 Thanks for these videos! Always so insightful! Love them! I wish you would do one from John Powell one day! 😜

Wonderful and impressive breakdown! A part of me is very inspired by how you manage to re-create such an amazing soundtrack with so much ease, while the other part of me sadly recognizes that I'm more than twice your age and have nowhere near the skills and abilities you possess. I was curious about what keyboard you use and if you alter between weighted and semi-weighted keyboards when recording/composing for different instruments. Hoping for more breakdowns of amazing scores in the future!

1. List of Libraries used please...... 2. Additionally, are these sounds straight from the DAW or from the speakers?
@AshtonGleckman
@AshtonGleckman 3 жыл бұрын
Straight from the DAW. You can see a pretty comprehensive list of libraries by checking out the MIDI file or opening one of my older Cubase files (gladiator or Interstellar perhaps). Lots of Orchestral Tools and Spitfire mainly.

Thanks for this! I’m curious, when it comes to voicing strings how much are you keeping the rules of 4 part harmony in mind? (i.e. not doubling the 3rd, avoiding parallel fifths). I ask because I’m really sorry working on my string voicings. I’ve recently heard Mike Verta say that the rule of parallel fifths is something you should mostly break. Thoughts? I appreciate any insight or resources on this.
