I rescued a Weihrauch HW35 from a coalplace. It was in shocking condition - pitted metal, water blackened woodwork but now with its polished action and the traditional, gorgeously scupltured, woman's bust type stock heel it looks superb. Fitted a Delrin kit and a now it is without the characteristic boing noise and has similar accuracy to my Walther LGV Master Pro which also has a barrel-locking feature. Love 'em both 8-) You are doing a good job, ignore the keyboard creeps.

Great episode. I have an old Gamo Hunter 440 with the factory trigger. It’s about 20+ years old and somedays it’ll put my HW97 to shame at 25 yards if I do my part. David

Cheers David, I'm kinda of toying with the idea of tuning this. It's going to be a young lads first 'proper' springer so it would good to make it a great little shooter 👍👍👍

Great idea, and an interesting Video in the making. - I restored a 1970 BSA Lightning a few years ago that I was given - Bent barrel, broken stock - obviously shot with the barrel open. I straightened the barrel, replaced the spring with a Titan (suitable sized) made a new spring guide, changed the Piston seal etc and polished all the rough edges and honed the cylinder bore. It shoot incredibly well and with the right pellets groups at 12mm at 30 m all day. I think your ASI is also a suitable candidate. Keep up the great work and keep away from sniffing labs 🤣

This gun brought back some wonderful memories…thanks Vin! I bought an ASI Sniper when I was approximately 18. £72 brand new, if I remember correctly! I took it round my mates house to shoot in his garden, which backed on to a Malt house. We’d shoot the odd pigeon off it! My mate’s dad had a few shots of it and obviously enjoyed the shooting experience, as a few days later, he went to the local gun shop and bought TWO HW35’s, for my mate and his brother, PLUS a FEINWERKBAU for himself! These guns were mounted on the wall when not in use and hardly used over the years! I actually have the HW 35’s now! I shall keep a lookout for a Sniper when I go to the National Shooting Show in May!

I had one in the early 70s I fitted some cut down relum tornado concentric springs to it quite powerful and accurate the drawback was after a while the stronger springs rounded off the trigger sear making it a bit sketchy

I was left a immaculate as new one by my brother in law in. 22 Its very low powered and not accurate at all. It came with a ASI branded scope which says made in Japan, very thin dia body. I put a new breech seal in nothing else yet so would like to see how you strip these to tune, I think mine is a mid to late 80,s model, stamp el game on rear of action

It's a Gamo Ron, late 70s and through the 80s they were imported into the UK and marketed by ASI (Anglo Spanish Imports). ASI used their name as the prefix for the different models. 👍👍👍
@tomsvennblad83742 ай бұрын
Hej Ron! Sure you have had an EL Gamo when you were young! Very common brand in Sweden...sold by Stiga. Apparently they were called ASI in the UK...geväret du ser i videon är ett EL Gamo Cadet eller EL Gamo Expo! // Tom

@@tomsvennblad8374 Hej Tom! Nä i did never own a Gamo, i just repaired them 😅 In the mid seventies i had a Chinese airgun named Arrow my dad gave to me. The first air rifle i bought myself in the mid eighties was a Sheridan blue streak and an a crap Sheridan Co2 pistol that did never hold pressure 😟 A bit later my first HW and got the same power from the HW as from my blue streak so that one i sold to quit pumping. Thanks for the info Buddy!

That's very similar to an air rifle I bought in the early 80's that was Spanish made and imported by Daisy. Was my first break barrel. Break barrels were hard to find for sale in a local store back then.

Excellent, I personally would just wipe it over with some rust prevention unless it’s mechanically unsound 😊 allow him to experience what we experienced with our first spring rifle, the twang, rawness and connection with something special. It Hooked me and that was 50 years ago 👍😊 😊

I hear what you're saying Carl, I do want to strip it whatever else, purely to make sure the trigger sears are ok and to check the mainspring to make sure it's not broken 👍👍👍

Little sniper is a real sniper on target impressive small tight group Tuning kit to smooth it out new grease moly, by adding a new spring if it turns out to be to strong , possible accuracy could be lost , new spring with three extre coils long then old one, then if you find , it does not quite work out , you can always loose or collapse the coils , winner winner
@vincentenglish84892 ай бұрын
We are thinking along the same lines Neil. First and foremost I need to make sure it's totally safe. 👍👍👍
@paulspeller9682 ай бұрын
so i keep telling the boys down the club velocity does not equal accuracy on a spring gun . 98 shoots at around 10.5 and it’s dead accurate. some of them low powered guns are bob on not so much recoil . mate of mine did a loft clear out and found an old smk stoke was beat up and loads of surface rust . cleaned it up a bit lubed it up and it shot pretty good for a battered old gun you could group with it at 25 yards . cracked me up because it sounded like it was going to fly apart when you pulled the trigger
@vincentenglish84892 ай бұрын
Excellent comment Paul, yup couldn't agree more that you don't need a springer shooting high 11s for it to be accurate 👍👍👍

@vincentenglish84892 ай бұрын
I'll have a chat with it's new owner tomorrow and see if he will agree to me giving it a full makeover and tune. 😉👍👍👍 as for why it went into a skip, when old farm buildings and houses are cleared it's amazing what gets chucked out. Locally to me 20 years ago it wasn't uncommon to find old airguns etc thrown into the refuse dump. 👍👍
