@@aniket385saqlain in 1999 against sehwag would have been an amazing contest. In the 1999 series against India he got 20 wickets, 5 in each innings. This was not common at that time. India used to take spinners apart in India and hence Saqi's achievement was amazing

I am surprised to see the decline in the Pakistan spin department in this current team. There were legends like late Abdul Qadir, Saqlain Mushtaq, Mushtaq Ahmed, Danish Kaneria, Saeed Ajmal, Intikhab Alam and even Shahid Afridi and Imad Wasim. Today they don’t have those skills. Pakistan cricket has focused entirely on T20 in the last 10 years. The decline is showing in the players skills, abilities to purchase spin, doosra, beat the bowlers in flight and also fitness to play ODI and Tests.

Gambhir was absolutely right, there was never a great spinner than saqlain mustaq. I think after bhajji n other team bowlers have come saqlain's name went behind but he was a great bowler.

It was just that one inning where he was hammered by Sehwag which happens to every bowler and that too towards the end of his career, despite that he managed to get two easy chances against Sehwag which were spilled by our legendary fielders. Its like saying that if someone got Tendulkar out on 0 that person destroyed his career.
