Chinese know the advantages and disadvantages of the WEST & China very well, neutral. So many Chinese have been to the United States. But Americans only know the disadvantages of China (Except for WEST guys who have been to China) ,They never know What is the real China? Because the mainstream media in the WEST only reports the disadvantages of China.(maybe 95%) & Then the western media said that Chinese r Thought closed... That's so so funny

Chinese have a clear mind. It's clear who am I? What is the west? What is democracy and freedom? They know why they don't use the system of Western democracy. They use their own social system. They Know How should they go in the future??(Even western media often accuse China of not implementing the western social system. The WEST thought they r The king, if u don't follow the WEST system, then u r evil. Actually, Singapore has proved that there is still a good society without the system of Western democracy )

As an American and a former Servicemember, I have been to many countries tries around the world. People are the same everywhere. They want their kids to grow up to a better life than they had. They want access to basic human essentials like food and clean water, and education. They just want to be able to live their lives as best ad they can. This is a universal truth, and Chinese people are no different, we should not be so afraid of them for trying to make their world a better place.

Remember the red revolution in china. that is real china in their beliefm theory and practice. Yeah, we g2 be open minded. It's my 7th year in the US now, there are still many classmates asking me questions like "do you guys have McDonald, Starbucks and etc" in a pretty high ranked college. I wonder what were we actually learning in high schools and colleges. These should be places where new ideas are accepted, but mostly I see misunderstanding, arrogance and ignorance, and many are even proud of being that way. Besides, seeing 2016 election process myself, I deeply feel the press is not free anymore, as president Trump said it is controlled by the establishments and it only informs what it wants people to know, such as Chinese eating dogs :) Not much better from Chinese controlled press- that they only report massive shooting in USA. Nevertheless, I have to point out, these people are well educated and live in Shanghai, the largest city in mainland. They are absolutely a minority group of China, and one of the guys even said he had been living in the states before. The general public in inland are very closed minded, and most of them are not informed. We both have a long long way to go. Anyways, I wish both countries be good, and every one have a good holiday season. :)

I agree, greylock1959. This sort of documentary is invaluable for giving both cultures an opportunity to understand more about each other without heavy handed propaganda influence in the form of media outlets and comment trolls whose purpose appears to be to keep people in a state of constant division. Sorry for the long winded sentence. To be more succinct, keep up the good work, Asian Boss! Oh, and by the way; I'm an old white guy who resides in Texas. As far as I know, most Americans don't dislike immigrants, but they do dislike people who enter the country in an irresponsible manner. Doing so is, at best, a sign of disrespect. Expanding upon that, the spirit of racism knows no political boundaries or skin tones. All it knows is evil as it represents fear.

There is a problem though, China is fairly closed off to interactions with Americans because you guys had a lot of sites blocked. Personally I think it is a way to keep us from interacting and realizing that the elite of both of our countries are always using propaganda to make the other look bad. If both populations were able to interact, we would see this. We are doing our best to get Trump out of office at the moment. It doesn’t look like it is going to happened but at the least it looks like he will be impeached.

I studied in Shanghai for a decent amount of time and can tell you that Chinese people are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I have had several Chinese students say the same thing to me when they come to USA to study. The age of technology has made it easier to learn about each other's opinions and cultures. This helps to understand that we may have our differences, but we are also very much alike. This was a wonderfully entertaining and informative video to watch!

@10 No, as a person who's been out of country, people tend to have a biased opinion of America in certain countries. China being a country we could realistically find ourselves in a war with makes me surprised they don't try harder to set a hostile view of us. Don't try to be a smart ass and make the "Haha, stupid American" argument. There isn't even Western propoganda, I can't ever recall a time I've seen anything saying something against Asia or any of the countries in it.

Stupid Asian boss youtube chanel, China is trying to push america out of east asia where there is american allies such as south korea and Japan. Like what is happening in South China Sea where there would be no freedom of navigation if there was no american presence. China is also buying up Australia and Europe to push american from its long standing historical allies. China is no better than Nazi germany or even worse. Remember the red revolution in china. that is real china in their beliefm theory and practice. Countries like korea, vietname, japan, philiphines have a really hostile view of china. no wonder why. we must fight chinese expansion other wise, we will die.

Half of the population lives in urban area where information is abundant and half are not. Though I can tell you most students and scholars went to the US will start to have a less delusional view about western country and realize western countries have as many problem as China. Still, it is almost impossible for China to have the same quality of life as in western country. And China's influence will unlikely surpass the US in the next 3 decades.

Apparently freedom is defined differently in different countries, so the US standards don't usually apply in China. And in China people don't find it be a problem not being able to elect the president, because China has developed a unique system called "selection and election" of choosing its leaders, which works pretty well for China, very different from the western models, so basically not comparable. In the US you can change the president/parties but a lot of time can't change the policies, in China we can't change the party but we can change the policies. Very efficient in terms of decision making. As a average citizen, being able to elect the president doesn't really mean a lot, not more than just a vague perception of "having the rights to elect", in fact could be dangerous if a unfit person gets elected (yes I am talking about Trump).
@boligard

As a Chinese living the west, I know what's going on in both sides, OK? As a Hongkonger (a special administrative region of China practicing Capitalism), I have to say the interviewees are very rational. Even they may hold both positive and negative impressions, they're not blindly praising or criticising. And it's a rare phenomenon in our society as people are either extremely patriotic or antagonistic. After all, we need more peaceful conversation and communication between people or even nations.
@loganflatt
@loganflatt 2 ай бұрын
It's not that Hong Kong practices capitalism -- it's that HK practices democracy. People in HK get to vote for or against those in power in government. People in China (Mainland) do not get that same right. But, people in China (Mainland) also practice capitalism ever since 1979 or so when Deng Xiaoping opened up China and introduced free market reforms away from pure Communism where, previously under Chairman Mao, the central communist government controlled and effectively owned everything -- which was a complete disaster. Millions of Chinese people died of hunger and starvation after communist policies failed to deliver food to millions of people in the 1960s and 1970s. Now, millions of Chinese people freely trade amongst each other to capture a profit -- that's capitalism. And, capitalism is how Chinese people have lifted themselves into a new middle class over the past 40 years, despite political control by the CCP remaining in place.

As a Chinese who has lived in the US for 6 years for higher education (MA+PhD, at an "elite" university near Boston), I'm not surprised to hear what the interviewees in this video have to say about their perception of America. The only person with first-hand knowledge of the US, namely the middle-aged guy in denim, sees America as a less than ideal place to live in, while all those younger people who obviously have spent little, if any, time in the US, still in many ways picture the US as a heaven of freedom and equality (though with certain qualifications). This is so common and typical and shows the one thing that the US has undoubtedly succeeded in: controlling world Media (including non-Party-run media in China) and brainwashing common people worldwide. The US has managed to impose its own biased, misleading and deceptive definition of "democracy" on the whole world. 70 to 90 years ago things were different, when communism as a political and ideological movement represented progressive forces striving for real democracy---demo=people, cracy=rule. Rule by the people, for the people. What matters is not whether you can vote in the presidential election---see how the 2016 campaign went, a joke. Democracy is not about how many parties you have. A multi-party (or in many cases two-party) system is simply a system that feeds on the partition (hence "party") or division of interests in society---different or even conflicting interests of different privileged groups or advocacy groups, who utilize the people to vie for political power. They do not, cannot and are not willing to represent the long-term interests of the common people, because, despite the conflicts between the priviliged groups themsevles, the gap between the elites and the people is much larger and fundamental. That's why, whoever the POTUS is, they will soon break their promises to the people which they used to lure peoples' votes---they no longer need votes, what they now need in office, is the continuous support of the real rulers of the US---economic oligarchs in different sectors of US economy, finance, oil, arms industry. And these tycoons have much more in common with capitalist oligarchs elsewhere in the West than they do with ordinary US citizens. And that's why there is so much debate going on in the US about things that affect peoples' life so directly and obviously---health care, environmental protection, clean energy, public education. They debate because they don't care---they do care about how these issues can benefit their groups--but not the people. In the Chinese system, the CCP would have set aside the divergencies and would have started making policies, in consultation with expert and representatives of the people, to promote whatever benefits our country and people the most in the next 5-50 years. Real democracy is reflected in the fear that if you don't work for the people, they will depose you without the resort to an election. When you lose people's faith in you, the whole system will decay. A multi-party, election-driven political system, based on the internal differences among the elites and the gap between the elites and the people, namely, Western "democracy", can never think rationally in the long-run. It is by nature nearsighted and close-minded and increasingly unable to make long-term policies. They rely on fancy language and terms to keep people tame and complacent. US has more equality? Wow, then who is the 1% that the 99% stood up against---in vain? Then why are the elections controlled by a bunch of rich people whose net assets surpass what most ordinary Americans can make in their entire careers? Then why are there so many homeless young people wandering on the street with their poor dogs holding signs like "seeking human kindness", bankcrupt and deprived of the right to restart a career under the capitalist financial "credit" system? Is this freedom and democracy? Are these people human beings? Democracy=Serve the People. Democracy≠manipulate people to choose between two puppets serving the true ruling class. The US presidential campaigns are seriously like liturgical rituals that give people the illusion that "wow this is democracy". The young people in this video, who still live in dreams and care about trivial matters about whatsapp (c'mon, it's about security. Chinese investors and products are banned by the West for the same reason; if you have a passport and can travel abroad, then you cannot claim that the government wants to control your little mind), need more exposure to the real US. It's not their fault. They simply need to read more history, travel more to rural China and other countries, and know a bit more about technology and the military, so as to stop acting like a self-claimed, laughable "bourgeois". Be down-to-earth and we will realize that the Chinese system is not only legitimate, but also morally firm.

I actually appreciate Asia, and China in particular. They literally are the powerhouse of all of our products. This iPhone that I’m on, made somewhere in Asia, probably in China. But that affects their market and people differently of course then it does here but there’s nothing we can do about it without losing millions of dollars in product. A war with China is something that I don’t see in my future. I hope to see a unity between our two countries because that’s the only way we can progress. China has very smart and educated people, as do we, and we’ve learned that when humanity works together to achieve something, it will be done. We’re built to be cooperative and work with one another. Don’t mind the flag that we wave, pay more attention to the human spirit and our passion of excellence. One day, maybe we can actually be friends, not just trade partners who look good for the camera but on paper it’s still shaky.

Pretty polite and respectful. They did make some good points. I think one problem is that, from my understanding and even based on what was said, usually 'news' about the US that is seen in other countries is stations like MSNBC. It's extremely, heavily skewed, and often misreports. The reason mass shootings are reported is because of how rare they are. Most of the gun crime is something like 5 cities in the entirety of the US, and it's generally related to gang violence - meaning that if you aren't involved in a gang, the chances of getting shot are super low. Things like suicides are included in our statistics, whereas other countries don't count that as gun crime. I was calculating the percent chance people had of dying or being injured in a school shooting here, based on the deaths and injuries last year, and it came out to something like a .0000065% chance that you'd be injured or killed in a school shooting. You're more likely to get hit by lightning in your lifetime. The reason people think it's happening constantly is because media will sensationalize any event that happens constantly (unless it doesn't fit their narrative, and then the story disappears quickly). For some numbers, there's about 132,656 schools in the US, with 62,800,000 people in them, and last year with the 9 shootings (some of which had no deaths, some no injuries or deaths), there were 26 injuries and 15 deaths. A lot of times the shootings amount to someone being mad at a specific person and happening to shoot them on school property. They aren't always even people who go to the school. That's not what you'll hear on the news, though. They sell the idea that our kids are dropping like flies and in grave danger constantly. I've lived in the US almost my whole life and the only time I've seen a gun was on a cop or in a shop. It's really not as bad as the media likes to portray. Not unless you live in one of the really bad areas, which are pretty famous for how bad they are.
@emeryltekutsu4357
@emeryltekutsu4357 5 жыл бұрын
The definition of mass shooting has also changed. For example, when Pelosi said there were so many mass shooting, that was including robberies and gang shootings. Most of us wouldn't think of those as mass shootings... If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to see a list of those 271 mass shootings to see if they're buffing up the numbers with things that no one would count normally as a mass shooting. It's pretty common for that to happen here. You should also realize that there's a major population size difference between us and many of the countries you would compare us to. Canada, for example, doesn't even have the population of California, just one of our states. I actually don't find those to be huge numbers. You're talking about over a decade long period, in a country of over 300 million extremely diverse people, and a total of 1,368 people died from mass shootings? Over more than a decade? That's about a .0000042% you're going to die in a mass shooting in the US. And I wouldn't be surprised if that number is being beefed up with gangs shooting each other and such, which the average American doesn't need to worry about. The reality is, about 1/3 of our gun violence happens in about 15 cities alone. Most of those cities are the ones with the strictest gun control, but are so well-known for their terrible crime that I'm sure you can name many of them off the top of your head. There's a reason why police are generally very pro second amendment, and it's because they know if you try and control the guns like you do in those cities, you end up with a lot of bad guys who have guns and not enough good guys. I'm also interested to see what happens in the coming decades to the places that have depended on gun control being low by being very strict about guns in their countries. Why? Because, think of this: 3D printers can already print firearms to some extent. 3D printers that can print using metal are coming in our futures soon. What then? How will you monitor every living room to make sure someone doesn't print out all the parts to build a gun? I don't know what will happen, but I do worry about the places that rely on disarming the populace, because we're coming on times where that won't be possible anymore.
