Is conversion therapy a person's personal preference or an idea and method pulled up by society and family to apparently "change" a person?

How is a thing becoming valid? What are your criteria to make something valid?

@@Chris-ic3uy it's a method created by society to change someone. Since gender is a social construct and gender differences are socially constructed, it makes sense that conversion therapy works. If someone doesn't identify themselves as the gender they were socially constructed to be, that means the social construction to impose gendered behaviour has failed and conversion therapy reimposes the social construction. P. S I'm not in support of conversion therapy, if gender is a social construct as feminists like to claim then conversion therapy is valid, if gender is biological then it's not.
