Literally just got this shoe yesterday for daily training. My UA mach3 hovr was toast and not cutting it for me. Ran my fastest one mile time in over a yr with this shoe this morning..8:40. So overall a major upgrade to what i had.

I'm thinking that the new 'wide platform' might appeal to traditional stability types, with a wide, flattened foot (like me). Plus, Asics knows how to make a decent wide width. Also, the many users who never liked the rigid features in 'traditional stability' shoes. I can see the appeal, but some certainly won't love the new (somewhat bulky) direction.

So I was recently at the launch of the ASICS GEL KAYANO 30 launch (South Africa 🇿🇦) and the CEO labeled this as the first "feel it when tou need it" stability long distance runner ever, which made lots of sense to me.. in laments terms, the first shoe that's perfect for every runner because,effectively, every high millage runner will eventually begin to pronate according to fatigue levels. In other words, the more you run, the more fatigue you experience, the more fatigue, the more you pronate in your stride. So this new KAYANO30 is a shoe for every runner..basically.

I got the Kayano 30 at the store today, BUT I almost got the Nimbus 25. Nimbus 25 felt so stable, almost like the Kayano. Plus it felt more comfortable. I got the Kayano, because i did not fully trusted the Nimbus for my overpronating feet I am going to get the Nimbus too at one point. My point is, if you are overpronater, 25 might work as well. I had Kayano 28 (3 pairs lol) and I loved it. Will see if 30 will earn my trust the dame way. Thanks for the review. So validating.

I did not know it felt less speedy and nimble Gel-Nimbus 25 . Interesting since the Nimbus is a slow high cushioning running shoes that I loved and it is stable enough for my need. Then I will go to some thing more stable and faster then the Nimbus : Gel-Cumulus 25 ! Will see if I get the Gel-Kayano 30 later on in a Black Friday deal .

Left the Kayano 2 years ago and moved to the Arahi from Hoka. However this Kayano brought me back to ASICS absolutely loving the 4D updates and new look. ASICS please never bring back the visible gel.

@@q20a08 too me the Arahi’s foam isn’t as plush or responsive as FF + Eco. However the Arahi is lighter. So it’s kind of what you would prefer.

Between the Gel Kayano 30 and Nimbus 25, I'm set with my running shoes. They both provide max cushioning, stability, and outstanding bounce and shock absorption propelling me forward while keeping my legs fresh from the torment of longer training runs. Can handle road and trail with ease. Asics is the best!!!

I used to run in the Kayano about 15 years ago. I swear they were $140-$150 back then. Gotta hand it to Asics for keeping the price from inflating too much!

Kayano is a stability nimbus basically, almost the same midsole as the nimbus. The gel cumulus is more responsive and firmer and faster.

@@LFKY13 I thank you for your input. I ask because my Gel Cumulus 25 outsole is not suited for the dried asphalt here in the islands and figured the Gel Kayano 30's would work similar.

@@ajmartinez1906 The Kayano 30's have more rubber on the outsole than the Cumulus 25's so I believe the durability and wear should be less! I live in Puerto Rico and my kayanos are holding up great in the heat.

Last year they didn't use the eco version. I prefer my nimbus 24 over 25 when it comes to walking, 24 are so much more softer. This is not an upgrade.

Kayano is a stability shoe, Novablast is a neutral trainer. They aren’t choices we’d compare.

Can anybody recommend a comfy LIGHTWEIGHT runner that comes in WIDE sizes? Emphasis on the lightweight and wide 😂😂having a tonne of trouble finding both. Most wide shoes that come in 2e/4e are on the heavy side (and I’m a US13 so that doesn’t help) can’t find a lightweight shoe that is made in 4E sizes

Saucony Tempus? I think they have a 2E width at least. It’s not vaporfly light but is much lighter than the Kayano here.

@@MadLadsAnonymous I haven’t used it too much for walking, but for jogging it should work great. It’s very lightweight for a stability shoe but it has the foam from Saucony’s race shoes so it can pick up the pace too.

I found the FF blast + eco much softer/plush but not bouncier than the normal FF Blast +. I dont think the Kayano 30 should be compared to anything other than the Nimbus. The midsole feels, bar for bar word for word, like the midsole in the nimbus. I think the activity purpose of the FF blast + eco shoes is for those recovery days and easy miles. I believe the overrall purpose of the Kayano was to give non neutral runners a Nimbus that they can be stable in. I'm a neutral runner and my easy paces range from 8:00-8:50 per mile and I enjoy the Kayano much more than the Nimbus. If you want a speedier midsole, stay away from ff blast + eco.

Why is it you enjoy the K30 "much more" than the Nimbus, as a neutral runner ? You indicated very similar midsole.

@@paddywiggle I would say it’s interesting. I had a conversation with a member from the Asics team about three weeks ago and he showed me pics of the new version. It had a higher stack height and a more knitted upper similar to the cumulus/nimbus/kayano. He did mention a new formula of ff blast + so maybe it’s a new eco version/formula.

@@q20a08 The 4DGTechnology and the slighty firmer midsole are the main reasons I enjoy it more than the Nimbus. I say slightly firmer midsole but it's still softer and squishier than most foams in the market.

@@LFKY13 Interesting. You don't feel the nimbus has a softer squish feel to it ? I've seen a few people say that the K30 felt a bit firm out of the box, but then broke-in a bit. If that's not any different, what does make the two shoes different in your mind ?

@@q20a08 I can agree on that. The Kayano feels a bit more firm out of the box but after the first run the ff blast + eco gets a lot softer to the point where it almost feels like a nimbus (which I enjoy). I find the nimbus unrunnable in any pace that isn't extremely easy. It's way too squishy for me. The big difference is that slightly firmer ff blast + eco and the way my footstrike lands with that 4D guiding technology. I tend to get lazy on my easy runs and the 4DGT allows me to keep a consistent footstrike and form. Also, the outsole has more rubber so it adds durability.

Guys, I like your reviews because they are fun. But, this review adds no value. Here are my opinions for people who are curious about other people's experience with this shoe. I am a Kayano user for the last two years. I have flat feet, overpronating with one foot and high volume in other foot. Thus I have very mixed requirements. After lots of trial and errors, Asics Kayano Series (walking/jogging), Nimbus 25 (walking), GT2000-11 and 12 (walking/easy runs), Superblast (running) are best fitting shoes for me. Ok, let's move to my experience with the shoe: They experimented with Kayano Lite series, and executed with Kayano 30. Compared to Kayano 29, this one has wider base, softer (better feeling) midsole, wider toebox, wider midfoot and similar heel. I used for walking and jogging as most Kayano users would probably use the shoe for this purpose. You guys didn't even mention what 4D Guidance is and what it brings to the game. Well, I feel pop feeling with this Guidance foam. It is a soft foam but its effect is like FF Turbo. I wish they somehow make Superblast more stable. Even in its current form, my go to shoe is Superblast. Personally, I need stability shoes for easy runs, jogging, walking so Kayano 30 is in my favourites from now on as well.

I mean besides the obvious fact that you like the 4D guidance. By the way, in the 'road trail run' review of K30, Sam suggests Asics should experiment with putting "turbo" into a K30-shaped midsole. That sounds ideal for you.

DISAPPOINTED with the Asics Gel Kayano 30 I've been a loyal user of Asics Gel Kayano series for years, but my recent experience with the Gel Kayano 30 left me utterly disappointed. On the day I received the product, I embarked on a 10km run and noticed severe blistering on the tips of my middle toes and the inner side of my heel. I decided to give it another shot after a 5-day break once my feet healed, but unfortunately, the same issue persisted during another 10km run. It's quite a letdown especially considering the hefty price tag of 5499 TL attached to this pair, which is supposed to represent its high standards. I genuinely hope Asics takes a hard look at customer feedback and prioritizes satisfaction to match the high financial expectation set by their pricing. The comfort and stability that were the hallmark of the previous models seem to be lacking in this latest iteration.

Kayano is specific for abnormal people aka overpronators idk why people keep buying these even though it's not for them 😆 Asics so desperate to educate they even put the rubber on the inner foot to show its really not for you

That would be a novel approach to selling shoes. Mark it with a visible tattoo, specifically aimed at warning away as many potential buyers as possible. Seems likely.
