Asio claims to be bow hunting clothing for bow hunters. In this video, you’ll have the full picture of their entire mid-season lineup and if their midweight gear matches up. After testing the Lightweight Hoodie in the early season and really liking it, I wanted to test the midseason bow hunting lineup. In this Asio Midseason Gear Review, you'll see why I think this bow hunting gear is perfect for treestand hunters.

I tested every piece of the midseason lineup except the Windproof Sherpa-lined bibs. I tested everything thoroughly and you can see what I found in the video here. Asio's midseason lineup is perfect for the treestand bow hunter and in this
I hunted with the Asio Midweight Hoodie, Midweight Pants, and Core Warmth Vest through the midseason and into the late rut where I could. I then used those mid-layers and tested the Asio Windproof Sherpa-lined Jacket and Pants into rifle season and even used them bow hunting in the late season in Pennsylvania.
I wore this bow hunting gear through thick brush and hiked up steep mountain areas with my hang-and-hunt mobile setup or when saddle hunting through the archery season.
Asio Gear's slogan is they sell bow hunting gear for bow hunters. The name Asio also goes with their camo, as Asio is the screech of an owl and their Raptor camo is based on that. Pretty good marketing, right?

@theeverydaybowhunter Hello Mike. Thank you for the videos! Question: price aside, Asio or Sitka for November eastern treestand whitetail bowhunting? Also, do you find Gore Windstopper to be superior to this windproof material or not?

Jon, I apologize. I didn't see your comments here. My son just brought it to my attention. For November treestand hunting in the east, I would definitely go with Asio. The wind protection is just as good as Sitka. I can't tell the difference to be honest. I have been hunting in the Sitka Optifade Subalpine in the fall here in PA too, but even if you use the Elevated II (which is great for treestand hunting), the Asio camo really blends in. I walked around looking for a pack I laid my Asio Sherpa-lined Jacket over for 20 minutes last season. It does a great job.

For someone with an athletic build would you recommend following the size recommendations?
@theeverydaybowhunter
@theeverydaybowhunter 10 күн бұрын
Yes. I don’t think you’ll have any issues, especially with the tops. I have a 34 inch waist and I was borderline between the medium and large pants. I stuck with the medium and have been happy with them.

Great reviews. Joe is first and foremost a whitetail fiend. I have some First Lite and Kuiu gear and I like them. They are great brands but they are western hunting companies who are entering the foray of whitetail. ASIO is a whitetail brand and because Joe is a whitetail guy everything in the design is built around the needs of a whitetail hunter, especially the bowhunter. I have all the lightweight stuff. This was a great review as I was trying to determine how to build a layering system that will travel from my home state of SC up to illinois in November. Thanks very much

You are welcome. I just finished wearing the Midweight Hoodie and Pants last night hunting along with the Core Warmth Vest when the temperature dropped. I went through some seriously tough brush and jaggers. Not a problem. I think the pants rival any other brand on the market. They are flat out awesome. And I really like the vest.

How would Asio compare to First Lite? I’m looking to build a new system this year. Great review!

It is very comparable. I think the pants are better than First Lite.

I have the first lite solitude bibs and jacket. Very warm, very nice quality. The only thing that sucks is the collar on that solitude jacket is not a good fit for bow hunting. It’s way too big and it will get in the way of your string at some point. If you’re hunting late season with a crossbow you will be fine. I do like it but I just bought the Asio Sherpa jacket and pants because I want a wind proof system that I can use for my compound.

I haven't had a chance to test the First Lite stuff and hope to next season. After completing another season with the Asio gear, I am even more impressed with it. I wear it just as much as my Sitka stuff and in some scenarios, more. The Sherpa-lined jacket and pants are warmer and better than the Stratus system IMHO. *I don't know how I missed this comment when you first posted it. My apologies.

I’m 6’ 230 pounds. Waist size 36-38. All the first lite pants I have are long by 2-5 inches. Sitka sizes are a bit better and I think Asio sizes are an even better fit for regular size people out of the 3 companies. Other than that quality is definitely on par. Also, Asio has the absolute best early season stuff. The last two years in S.MI, I have hunted 70-80 degree days in October. Asio is the only company I have found besides Columbia camo dry fit shirts that keeps you cool and dry during hot hunts in the tree

Great video mike. This is the set I was looking at but here in pa do you think it would get me down into the 20s-30s for all day sits ? Or do you think the late season would be the way to go ?
@theeverydaybowhunter
@theeverydaybowhunter 9 ай бұрын
I wore the sherpa lined jacket and pants with the Core Warmth vest and some heavy duty merino base layers last year and it worked well down into the low 30s really well. I have the new late season jacket and bibs and they are extremely warm and it has some bulk to it. If you are going to walk a long ways, I would use the mid-season stuff. The zip vents on the pants are awesome and I normally carry the jacket with me. If you want something you can use a lot more through the season and are limited on funds, the Sherpa lined stuff is the way to go. If you just want to be warm with no questions asked for all day sits, the late season stuff will definitely do it. I hope this helped and wasn't too confusing lol.

The tops have fit perfectly. I have found that if you are in between sizes with the pants to size up. Otherwise no issues.

We are pretty close in size. I’m a 34-30 and have the mediums. The Sherpa lined pants fit very well and I even wore a base layer under them in the late season. The Midweight pants were a little more snug around the waist for me but the Sherpas fit good.
