Midwife Chavah Benzion gives a clear, easy to follow, mini-class focused on recovery after childbirth.
*What do you need to know before the birth so you can plan?
*How to get the support you need from friends and family members?
*What to be aware of when someone you know has just given birth.
Part one of this class addresses:
* Cultural beliefs about the period of time following the birth.
* Normal and common emotions/challenges experienced when becoming a first-time mom.
* Your changing identity as a mother and how this process affects the husband/wife/partner relationship.
* Importance of breastfeeding your newborn and how it influences recovery after the birth.
* Importance of new mothers feeling validation in what they are experiencing.
Giving birth is hard. Being a new mother is harder.
Part two will cover the physiology of postpartum recovery.

After I had my first daughter my family was around for a good week. My husbamd and I really appreciated everything they did for us, BUT I found when I would rest on my own or with my husband without our new baby I would feel just wrong. I was tired but I didn't want to be apart from her. I cried a lot and I couldn't eat even when I wanted to sometimes. In time I understood that I needed to be with her 24/7. I rested better with her. My milk regulated better when we co-slept. It was a intense learning experience. So thank you for reminding me and informing of the things that I need to do or keep in mind when my new daughter is born.

Oh my goodness thank you so much for making this video!! It’s exactly what I was hoping to find! I’m due in a few weeks and I’m pretty worried about the postpartum period :/ I’m worried about people understanding this vulnerable time and giving me the space or support I need. I feel like there will be expectations and I will end up being the bad guy for creating a safe space for myself. Hopefully if I share this video it will help.

you can find an herbal "postpartum recovery tea" by maternitytea.com tremendously boosterish in getting over post-natal weakness and trauma. looking into it might not cost anything but could bring real strength.

How long should we be on bedrest after the birth? (I'm using my husband's youtube account.)

Hi! So, it really depends on the birth and how you're feeling. I spend a good deal of time prepping and encouraging parents to be ready to totally "cocoon" after the birth. We have a saying - "3 days in the bed, 3 days on the bed, and 3 days near the bed". Basically, you can start off by staying totally off your feet, and gradually work up to a more normal routine. Depending on how fast you try and jump back into action, you may notice your postpartum bleeding picks up again or you start to feel really weak. If you had a surgical birth, lost a lot of blood, or had an otherwise more physically challenging experience, than we urge a longer period of rest following the birth. If you spend more time resting immediately after the birth, you will usually recover sooner and more completely, with minimal complications ♡♡♡
