Not really, generally the higher ranking the officer the more friendly and well mannered they are. Idk what gives out the stereotype that there are these Col Jessup type of officers and I'm sure there may be a few here and there but the culture of the military doesn't really promote this type of behavior.
@s..a893
@s..a893 Жыл бұрын
@@AZ-xw5yb it's not actually that surprising, since with greater power it's not unheard of for people to get more arrogant and supercilious. And as for that military culture, it's about respecting those above you, so it can make commanding officers and colonels a bit like jack's character

Then he gave himself away as a lunatic. "I'm here to help you. You believe that don't you? Don't you??...You can have the papers but you gotta ask me nicely!!...faggity uniform.." A lot of bad men would definitely go down in militaries all over the world were the likes of a few good men i.e Lieutenant which Tom played actually existed and played their due part in JAG branches worldwide!

And a lot more atrocities would be committed in this world if it weren't for the likes of men such as Col Jesup. You can't have soft men and soft leaders in positions of great responsibility

I never understood his comment though about waiting till a woman becomes President. A woman Marine Brigadier General would qualify.

I think it had to do with the fact that he was the highest ranking officer down there. Didn't seem to be any generals present, at least not that were mentioned in the movie

The movie Jack nicholson played in after this was Wolf where. he palyed a werewolf. I alawys thought that if he could have played that part with the same intensity as he did here, Wolf would have been a much better film

But throughout the entire film he was basically a victim of the wolf and it’s random impulses.

They really don’t make good movies like these anymore. I purchased a copy of this flick and usually watch it on the yearly. It doesn’t get old, and what do ya know, even when I saw this little snippet on youtube, I just had to watch it. Where’s the intensity anymore? Where’s the grit! Well in this movie you’ll find it. Especially in the courtroom scene with ol’ Jacky Boy! What an actor. Notice how Nicholson especially doesn’t blink often when he is performing his lines. Now watch cnn anchors or abc cbs news, eyes blinking non stop. This is a major tell. Confident people talking confidently about X subject matter doesn’t require the thinky blinky I’m obviously nervous routine. Byeee
