Welcome back to another episode of The Viall Files: Ask Nick Edition! We start off by talking about public affection and the frisky couple in Battery Park. Then we get to our callers…
Our first caller is wondering if her in-laws are brainwashing her to have a baby. She and her husband are on the same page, not to have a baby right now… how should she confront them with love? Our second call is a mediation call! Our couple is wanting to elope but doesn't know how to tell the soon-to-be husband’s mom. They still want to host a celebration, but they're afraid his mom’s traditionalism will make her angry. Our final caller calls in because his mom is guilt-tripping him with his childhood disease. He is all healthy, grown up, and in a relationship now… but setting boundaries with his mom has been tough because he appreciates her for the past she keeps bringing up.

These drag on sooooo much longer than they need to. Unless the caller is asking additional follow up questions it should end with the advice and not just spew BS for 20 minutes

Yesssss we always end up talking about something completely unrelated to the original topic. I’m curious if he cut back on the rambling if we’d have time for more than 3 or 4 callers.

I feel so bad for the caller who had cancer. Your mom has her own mental issues she’s going through. Focus on your marriage and your future family and focus on the good things. You will never be able to please a persone whose going through their own mental problems to work through. So your best to love her, but you can draw the line and cut her off if you need to. Family doesn’t mean you to suffer.

I use to feel guilty setting boundaries, especially with family...it's a must though. I like that meditation book called 30 Days to Overcome Guilt by Harper Daniels.

@AK-jd7td I know what you're saying. Sometimes it's easier to just say something neutral and not let it bother you. Older folks have no idea how insensitive these questions are. Believe me I've had family do it to me and it hurts. But it's one of those situations where you only have control over your feelings and not theirs.

Omg the caller who had cancer made me SO sad 😭 I’m a mom, and God forbid something like that happened to one of my kids, I can’t everrrrrr imagine holding that over their heads. Omg. That poor guy. I wanna hug him.

Last caller, the one who had cancer, as a child; has 3 or 4 siblings; I'm wondering if mom calls them. Surprised they weren't mentioned. They could share helping her, if possible.

What’s crazy is my husband and I got married in our own way and just wanted a few close ppl there and planned a big celebration later at our new home later and I’m an only daughter and this was m 3 rd marriage but finally for myself not for reason beyond myself an this one was based on true love and we have now been married almost 20 yrs , anyway my parents never attended the first 2 weddings mainly because of my mom and had tickets to be there and last minute backed out so again we’re not there for my final wedding and my mom then stopped talking to me when I confronted heron it so of course refused to come to the celebration! So I had the opposite of the problem of James of Nicole. Pretty sad actually, but you better believe my mom planned my brothers wedding!

Nah, the Christian family needs to not ask those questions. The collar needs to tell them to stop and tell them that it’s none of their business. Set boundaries!

She's using it as a manipulation tactic. He really should consider going no contact. It's sad but people like that won't learn (if ever) unless something drastically happens

When your intentions are good . Would you allow your daughter & son live together ? Than there back home in a few years . When an Ethnic wants more than they can afford , 5 Kids, house, car, clothes . You can have two sister's or brother's & they are entirely different. When domineering girls in some Ethics , live on their own, & ask boys for money. Than what are you a prostitute ? Every woman is different inside , a virgin experience . Why or how can you not have children & family . Children are happiness !
