+Josh Schulz Chuck had one thing that I think is missing from most metal bands today and that's soul. His vocals (and guitar solos) on Symbolic were coming from a place in him that no one could duplicate.

+Josh Schulz I really feel the emotion in his vocals. i really enjoy when someone can push their emotions through the harsh vocals. the new fallujah "The void alone" regardless of your opinion of their music i really can feel his emotion in his vocals. especially in the end of it.

James Hetfiled was so aggressive at his prime. He ruled the stage, he owned every single second of the show and you cannot compare his talent to any other frontman. I believe he isn't get enough credit. He is the definition of metal. Also, worth mentioning Sebastian Bach, John Oliva, Chester Bennington.

There's good reason behind this. Find Will To Survive.. It's an old Cowboys era recording of Phil. His voice has finally (amazing it took this long) fallen off.. but his progression and versatility is unbelievable especially counting in as I just said, how long it took for his voice to finally go out considering his range. He took that more death metal turn there for a while in the ending phases of Pantera. But holy shit he could wail back in the day. I'm throwing in Corey Taylor and Matt Barlow ( formerly of Iced Earth) as well

No one said Dave mustaine. Lol. Damn I was expecting at least 1. Dave's voice is so fucking incredible, he's completely original and unique. No one can mimic his vocals to a T the way people can mimic hetfield or halford or Dickinson. The only vocalist I'd say that rivals Dave in that sense is Dio.

Anyone who attended a Dark Tranquility concert will agree that Mikael Stanne is unmatched as for live performance, and both his growls AND his cleans are considered by a LOT as one of the best ever.

I have to say, for me on a personal level, Layne Staley. That guy had such a unique sound in his vocals. Him and Peter Steele. Another very unique vocalist.

Because he injured himself in refugee denied album and his range gets shorter after only 5 years, while I can sing all the songs on that album without hurting mine. I keep practicing till I have rob halfords peak vocal range and that will take some time... that guy is a beast! And you also have devin townsend (he is mike patton on steroids when it comes to metal music).

@@itsalwayssomething7490 Patton doesn't really do death metal growls. Certainly not at the level of someone like Åkerfeldt. Of the vocalists mentioned in the video he's definitely got the widest range of techniques, but he's never really dealt in any sort of extended use of traditional death or black metal type vocals.

Tate was crazy good in his prime but he started later and burned out quicker than Bruce and Dio. Hard to put him up there without the longevity, consistency and worthwhile material.

Sheepdog McClaren from Razor. The screams on Violent Restitution (especially the one at the start of The Marshall Arts, an instrumental song!) are harshest, loudest mist metal screams you'll ever hear from an 80's thrash band. And he was able to pull them of live too.

He's the richest in vocal range, and goes on stage in a white T-shirt and sweatpants and steals the show. I would say Patton as well, but I'm a bit of a fanboy, when it goes to him. But it's closely follow by Mikael Åkerfeldt - he can do those crazy vocal changes.
