I started training Yang Family style in ‘18, but trained in another art for years before that. With my fellow beginning students I often hear them ask “What does this move mean? How would you use it?” and the thing is I often feel it’s similar to techniques I learned before.Tai Chi makes sense to me as a martial art because I feel intuitively “Yes. Those moves work.” So I’m satisfied to train and move slowly and have never doubted the effectiveness as a martial art.
