I really REALLY respect their insight on keeping skating as raw as possible. If it goes to the olympics, so be it. but to me skating is shredding with your friends and vibing off each other, there are no points involved and (in my opinion) that's the way it should be. just high fives and good times man.

@thenameisjimbob hard tricks are impressive because of the level of risk involved. if there's no risk, what's there to be impressed about? also go to target and look at everything with shaun white's name stamped on it.

@MrRobot-ce2yj12 жыл бұрын
@thenameisjimbob ok so from a technical perspective the foam pit makes harder tricks possible, but foam pits can't do much for style which is a huge part of skating. also, selling out can rock the skateboard industry. it makes skateboarding more inclusive to people who really don't get, so companies can make a buck. it doesn't sound bad at first, but then when those people lose interest the big companies fall flat or take the money and run and core skateboarders feel the pain.

@MrRobot But look at freestlye mx... everything has to be tried into foam first because they'd probably die if they just tried it on dirt. But look at what they're throwing about nowadays, it's silly. If that transfers over into vert skating, the amount of ridiculous stuff we could begin to see could really push the sport. And what does shaun white's name on products have to do with anything... Whether he chooses to sell out or not doesn't affect the progression of skating does it?

I don't get hating on Shaun... Ok, he's got a serious approach and all but he goes off and sessions tricks into foam to try and push the standard of skating and progress? Took Hawk 14 years to 900, but now we have guys learning them in a matter of months... surely it just means that skating's going to progress more and more, which is only a good thing...?
