Give Me An Answer with Stuart & Cliffe Knechtle

9 жыл бұрын

Cliffe Knechtle has a great conversation with college students at a campus in the southwest US.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

Lol, dude I steal a lot of things from apologists. There was a video where a failed heckler attempted to heckle Cliffe, failing to heckle him, the crowd went against her telling her to leave she was very shocked on how people loved to listen to Cliffe. She started to engage Cliffe, and straw-manned him tremendously. Cliffe refuted her so many time, and he questioned her on "Where something is in the Bible?" And she dodged the question and Cliffe was like "I see you left the kitchen because it was getting to hot.", immediately I stopped that. She said the Bible condoned racism.

I’ve recently been born again as of Nov. 2018. I always believed in God and became a lukewarm Christian over time. I did shrooms, drank, but mostly smoked pot everyday. I look back and can’t believe how patient Jesus has been waiting for me (I’m 39). I have been saved by an angel or Jesus (not sure at the time) at least twice, but possibly 3 times. A voice told me to let off the gas pedal when I was going through an intersection, as soon as I did, a truck blew a stop sign that would have killed me. I also fell asleep at the wheel another time and WOKE up while driving sitting upright and very much positioned like a robot. I ended up on the other side of town somehow! Fell into a pool’s deep end as a child, somehow my mother knew to check on me and pulled me out. I had another experience where I was praying for a relative that was brutally murdered and burned alive years prior. I was HIT like a sledgehammer with unexplainable peace and joy. Instantly tears poured out of my eyes and I had the breath sucked out of me, totally winded. It was like I was experiencing the joy of heaven but my human body could not handle it! I also experienced an interaction with several demons in the basement of a psychic lady’s house who summoned them and spoke to them nightly. The fear and anger I felt as their eyes pierced my soul was like nothing of this earth......,over and over and over Jesus was calling me!!! I was too much of a fool to notice, even though I believed in Him! In November of 2018, after a minor argument with my fiancée, I heard a demon’s voice talk to me telepathically in my mind- “I hate you, I’ll kill you and tear your family apart.” With the most conviction in my soul I commanded that thing to leave my house in the name of Jesus Christ. Every room in the house I yelled at it. I felt our Lord blast through my house and beat those things down! Whoosh gone! I prayed and thanked him and repented for allowing them to get close to me. He talked to me telepathically asking me questions and made me feel the guilt of my sins. Lots of information as a sort of psychic download into my heart and mind simultaneously. Question 1: “After all I’ve done for you, what have you done for Me, and others?” Question 2: “Am I NOT enough for you?” Then, the weight of my sins lifted, it was incredible. Since that moment, I’ve had no desire to drink, smoke, blaspheme, masterbate, be angry, stressed out or sin at all. Wanting to share love with no other possible explanation. I notice the tiniest signs he puts in my path....I see them right away and chuckle, seeing He really does work in mysterious ways. I fully understand how to have a relationship with him and not need to physically see or hear our relationship. He is incredible people! Let him into your heart! I had felt in my soul the the extremes of joy and sorrow through just some of my life experiences..... Feeling the presence of God and Satan deep inside through strange encounters. For that, I am blessed to KNOW Christianity is the truth, yet I STILL tried to not fully commit. He wants us all to repent and accept Him. He actually told me this! Don’t think you can sin all your life and God will be OK with it. He really will reward you if you follow with all your heart!! oh man, that was nice. Now Jesus is telling me to get you off the milk. repent was translated from the Greek text. I encourage you to find out its true definition by looking in Strong's concordance. YOu should be able to still get to that truth on sites like blueletterbible.org although The Calvinist are working very hard to cover the true meaning up by saying "it can also mean" Find a Jew who changed His mind on who Jesus really is and ask Them to tell you what the Torah reads in the scripture Jonah 3:10 where "GOD repented" think about that! GOD has no SIN's So what is HE really doing? In the NKJV the Calvinist changed that very scripture. to" God relented" to hide what the early Calvinist changed in the 1611KJV new testament.

Thanks for sharing ,although having had similar experiences one cannot claim to known all absolute truth wether found in the Bible or not - God or whatever one's understanding of it may be - one cannot put value of evil on such nonchalant activities like smoking or drinking as 'evil' without becoming stuffy and hypocritical - all within balance and if you feel right not to so be it , real evil is much more profound than that and has effect on others,let that be your guide ,we cannot conceive properly God per Se while here but know when present ,or the opposite and that should suffice -biggest mistake man has done is to box it in in the form of a Bible which in itself has floors in it -and cannot be complete. We are here to learn and those that have understood will know - peace be with you ,and around you.

richard richardson Good question. I believe that humans have identified a part of the mind, something that stays within a certain moral outline and have therefore named it a conscience. But tbh, the way I think, I dont believe there is such thing as a conscience. But we can agree to an extent that there are things that we would not like to happen and things that we would like to happen. Even if the happiness only lasts for a while. A conscience is our naiveness

This is a great example of morality it's about person who grew up in a tribe exactly what the second guy asked...There was a Lady who grew up in the Amazon with her tribe and her tribe believed that children born with disabilities were cursed and evil and if this occurred the woman would have to leave their baby in the jungle to be killed by the animals. This Lady had a baby girl and she was disabled and she knew what her tribe wanted so she went to the jungle and left her baby to die...but she was overcome with guilt and knew it was wrong, she went back a few hours to get her baby and thank God she was fine. Now even though this lady had grown up to believe it was right to do this, her guilt led her to know it was wrong so she followed her conscience over her culture, when she rescued her baby she knew she would have to leave her tribe. She now lives in Brazil with her daughter, there is actually have a law named after her in Brazil because this unfortunately happens in many tribes and she was the first person to stand up and say "no this is wrong" so this law was set up to protect the children in these tribes and offer the tribes help in caring and understanding people with disabilities. Many parents in these tribes have committed suicide because they didn't want to have to leave their children to die, now if our morality is based on our culture these good people wouldn't have stood up and said these things are wrong they would have just accept that's the way life is but when our conscience tells us different to what others are saying in acceptable then we know something isn't righ.

Jesus told us the standard when he said all the laws of the prophets rested on 2 laws, Love God love neighbor as self. The standard is LOVE. If i cut your arm off for fun = bad if I cut your arm off to save your life = good Same action different moral conclusion, why ? One was done out of love the other outside of love. Scriptures tell us we were made in the image of God, and to be like God, God is love. This is the standard we all know exist, and Jesus revealed.
@PGBurgess
@PGBurgess 9 жыл бұрын
Joshua Hults that sounds profound at first face.. but it is more of a silly tautology.For the whole moral debate (absolute vs relative basis) it has no meaning to just propose a 'standard' (whoever puts it). The question is how you determin whether this standard is absolute or relative. And as a proposed standard the way we define 'love' and 'good' are just based ont he same experiences we have.. and they mean (not exactly, but for the purpose of these definitions) the same thing. (And defining god as love makes it a triple tautology.) (Sort of like saying the standard of health is physical fitness.. and god is physical fitness.. and we all know this to be the standard of health). So basicly jesus revealed a tautology.
@JoshuaHults
@JoshuaHults 9 жыл бұрын

P.G. Burgess You don't see it ? You are wearing the cap you are looking for. you said, " I am pointing out your logic is flawed. " You just assumed flawed logic is a bad thing, an objectively bad thing. If it was not, than there is no reason to point it out. Would be like saying, " I am just pointing out you like the color blue. " Means nothing because there is nothing wrong with blue. Only if liking blue was actually wrong would your statement and or reasoning mean anything.
@PGBurgess
@PGBurgess 9 жыл бұрын
Joshua Hults Logic isn't the same as morality. Perhaps and argument for absolute logic can be made (Though i'm more with Goedel's incompleteness theoreum on that one) When i say 'i think it's a bad thing' .. i'm saying 'it's a bad thing if you want to make a convincing point'. That is objectivly true.. for that purpose. Though there is nothing 'absolute' about it (absolute is not the same as objective). You couldn't choose to make a logicly poor argument because it would sound convincing to those who do not think any further about it.

There is no record of Caesar Augustus' decree that "all the world should be enrolled" (Lk. 2:1). The Romans kept extremely detailed records of such events. Not only is Luke's census not in these records, it goes against all that we know of Roman economic history. Roman documents show that taxation was done by the various governors at the provincial level. As we shall see later, the property tax was collected on site by travelling assessors, thus making unnecessary Joseph's journey away from what little property he must have owned.

One think that tips me of on the weak argument of an absolute morailty is that each 'observation' (which only tries to deal with objective morality) waters down in these generalisations where 90% of the point is hidden in tautologies. "Almost everyone agrees that killing an innocent child is moraly wrong." Every possible discussion on the morality of that statement is shifted to the terms 'innocent' and 'child'. Once again a very weak argument for moral absolutes that don't reach further as: they are absolutes because i believe they are.

Can you go to the site and see where Horace lived and loved each person he encountered? Can you read the records and prove that Horace was put to death for his beliefs? Can you find accounts of Horace containing his sayings, teachings, and claims of being "The Son of Man" the Son of God" born of the Holy Spirit of God? Did Horace make blind men see and the lame walk? Did Horace cure people who had ailments just by them touching his garments? Did Horace raise people from the dead? Did Horace claim to have the power to forgive them their transgressions before the judgement? This differs quite a bit, doesn't it. It fails quickly when you compare events with archaeological sites to events in a country like Egypt. Their story of the events in Egypt tend to change as you listen over a half century. Then it depends who you talk to. This young man doesn't know enough about Horace. You can listen to Paul Maier the professor of ancient history discuss Horace and trying to research him. It's not really a topic where there is any definition between who or which Horace is meant. There is a framework of a story. Not people who knew Horace writing about him as they lived with him and walked with him, watched him preach, teach, eat, perform miracles, be questioned, answer, and on and on. There just aren't personal accounts about that inspired in people he lived with.

19:00 The Bible never says racism is good, and all of this. Hence the Bibles morals havent changed in 2000+ years, but our cultures have adapted to what Jesus said was good years and years ago when nobody realized slavery was bad. Yet another reason to listen to the Bible. Its been right all along. Even Genesis 1:1, 'in the beginning God created the universe.' If the universe is eternal and unlimited as other religions claim, it has no beginning. The very first sentence shows you what the Bible knows to be true. We only recently discovered the Big Bang to be true, so what does that tell you about the Bibles reliability? Theres hundreds or thousands more reasons. People ignore them because they dont want to be judged for 'things they had no control over' yet they do, and Jesus died so you didnt have to be perfect, not one of us is perfect, except Christ.

Let’s try and be honest with each other if The odyssey was to have any claims like the Bible does, we would have no problem with saying it didn’t happen. with the Bible since the historical parts seem true your just throwing the rest in as true also, it should be broke down claim by claim not as a whole.

You talked about breaking down the Biblical claims, and dealing with them separate from one another. Perhaps, but it comes down to the basics, what is the Gospel (the good news that can get a person to heaven)? And is there sufficient evidence for me to put my trust in Jesus, as reliable? I Corinthians 15 says that the Gospel is that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose from the dead on the third day. This is the good news that our sins can be forgiven because we put our faith in Jesus, who was also Deity, as He was involved in all of creation, see John 1, Colossians 1, and Hebrews 1. And shown in many clues in the Book of John, ie. He spoke to the winds, and the waves, and they obeyed Him (Matthew 8, Luke 8), and nine "I am" statements as well, and His acceptance of worship, ie. Thomas (John 20:28), for starters. And when we approach any other historical document, do we give it the same amount of scrutiny. If we can accept the Bible as historically reliable, then read about Jesus in the Gospels, and ask, is He worthy of my faith? If not, then ask, who or what is more worthy of my faith than Jesus? What am I living for, and what is the overwhelming evidence that it did not just come from my mind, but from more evidence than the evidence of Jesus?

@@scottm4042 How could we know that the wind and sea obeyed him unless we just take what the Bible says by faith, which means not to actually know but to believe it anyways. Not all christians are Trinitarian’s there’s also unitarians who believe Jesus was an angel of God there’s over 33,000 denominations which differ in their beliefs of Jesus and who he was and so on, so it’s not so easy just to pick which could be right and than there’s Islam which makes a lot of since even though I don’t believe it to be true.

At about 20:48 Cliffe talks about "The amazing message of Jesus Christ", and he talks about how, if we genuinely ask for Christ's forgiveness, we will be forgiven. There are a few problems with this as I see it. Lets take a really bad person, lets say a man has raped tortured and killed a young girl, and on his death bed, he *genuinely* see's the error of his ways, gets on his knees and begs Christ for forgiveness. 1. According to Christian doctrine, Christ will forgive him. 2. Lets assume the young girl he tortured raped and killed was not a believer in Christ, but she was kind to others and lived a fairly good life, lets say her greatest sin was telling a lie to her parents. It seems to me, according to Christianity, he will go to heaven, and she will go to hell. The rewards and punishments seem all out of proportion to me. Or maybe I'm missing something here.

You are stopping your body from being able to create life, that is not evil. Wilfully creating life and then murdering it because it became a nuisance in the womb is evil. We have to be able to read in between the lines.

God does not care about us not being able to be Him. You think God had to work for his GODHOOD? we are created beings, correct? Take this to a logical conclusion. Re-program yourself. All Jesus wanted was us, to believe in Him to enter heaven. His resurrection that proved His GODHOOD. Sure He told the Jewish woman to go and (sin) singular no more. Was he talking about unbelief or cheating? Was He playing the part of a man keeping the laws to show His perfection? We can not even love God as He loves Himself. The moral of the Story of God is we have to let Him serve us.

God gave you a free will and volumes of ethical teachings and prophets so that you could ignore them? Jesus spent his life serving God so that you could do the opposite and just serve yourself?

@@boltrooktwo I would not have turned to Jesus if my life was fucking awesome. Jesus spoke like a GOD should speak. He helped those who believed. Now that He is seated at the right hand of the Father the comforter is in every believer. comforting me. That is it. Sure go out and try to be GOD but every time you fail you start back at zero. You're only diluting yourself if you think God is going to judge you on your good deeds versus your bad deeds. The people during the flood killed themselves because they did not believe when Noah was telling them they must believe and get on the ship/Ark (type of saviour). nothing has changed other than now we believe in the resurrection that proved Jesus/Yesuah GODHOOD. all the ethical teachings have no bearing on going to heaven. Just makes life better. But if life was too good we would never seek Jesus.

@@truemanrep3267 Jesus saves us from judgement for our moral evil when we repent and forsake our sins the judge can grant us mercy. When you are in front of a judge of the law, you are right, a judge doesn’t look at your good deeds they are concerned with your lawlessness. If you still have a mind to sin though you are still in the same boat, you need a change of heart so you don’t love sin for the pleasure but you love righteousness for the joy. Good deeds fill your time so that you have meaning and purpose that keep you from sin. Read James chapter 2 or the Sermon on the Mount from Jesus, if you balk at those things and don’t want to do them you still aren’t there yet. Be honest with yourself, you aren’t under some special condition that gives you a free pass to lie to yourself or anyone else.

@@boltrooktwo you are a Calvinist/Arminian all going the lake of fire. If Jesus God in the flesh cared about the 10 Roman named Graceless Commands. He would have told A-mosses to write in Genisis. That He told Adam to keep them to enter heaven and pass it to the offspring. The Jews could not even keep them. You can not even love GOD the way He wants to be loved. You are so stupid you use the word "sin" in the singular. The only Sin God Hates is UNBELIEF. Sin=missing the mark bull's eye in Archery. There is more joy in heaven when one unbeliever changes his mind to believe in the resurrection that proved Yeshua's GODHOOD. Jesus came to fulfill what the Jews could not do and put an end to the sacrificial system. and letting the Romans destroy the temple in 70 AD proved this. You believe that the Calvinist Mr. webster did not change the meaning of repent in His dictionary? If I was a betting man I would find his name in A Mason's lodge registry in England secrete society at 33 degrees. even the Pope is a Jesuit and their leader is the all-seeing eye AKA satan/chief commander. the Calvinist changed scripture in Jonah 3:10 from God repented (changed His mind) to God Relented in the NKJV. To hide the true meaning of "Repent" You have been lead as a lamb to the slaughter. The Calvinists were so stupid they missed this in their first 1611KJV. if that does not wake you the fuck up nothing will. 1 Corinth 15: 1-4 Eph 2: 8-9 gospel means GOOD news if I have to confess my sins then I am keeping my salvation. I am a believer and that is all it takes. Get behind me satan. Satan wants to be GOD so it makes sense that he peaches perfectionism. God gave me free will to believe or not... when I was in the process of changing my mind I asked in prayer that if Jesus was the GOD to believe in to please Give me more and 3 days after asking/seeking I heard Him shout my full 2 syllable name. My wife was listening to the Ray Comfort bullshit Calvinism, he is a converted Jew that can not let the law go. says you got to do 2 things to be saved. I do not belong to any church building so I do not have to behave myself and be a fake me. That would be lying. and yes the comforter is doing just that comforting as a type this. The judge can grant us mercy bullshit. God did not have to work His way to GODHOOD/perfection/Holiness. How can He expect us to do it? If we could that would mean we are better. not so boltrooktwo. look you are a fool just like I was. when we are young in the faith we are willing to learn and get sucked into works righteous religion.

@@truemanrep3267 I am anything but a Calvinist, how you would arrive at that is irrational. Free will and effort are important to salvation, I love to serve people, impart grace, and seek truth. You would use the Holy Scriptures written by holy men of old who worked and sacrificed for God to justify your unholiness. Your foul corrupted language and poor judgement reveals what you are, an idolator who loves sin. You use the f-word you have an adulterous heart, out of the mouth the heart speaks. Your idea of (singular) sin is one of the worst twisting of scripture I have ever heard. Sin is the cause of the problems, destruction, and suffering in this world and deserves no justification or excuse. You know what you spend your time doing, you know your guilt. You are a living being but have neglected to be a rational being. You have heard Jesus but don’t do what He has asked of you, your foundation is sand. You should be concerned, being out of touch with reality will catch up with you, the truth has a date in the future you don’t know of that will exact a reckoning, and those who haven’t prepared like the virgins in the Parable of the Ten Virgins will be turned away.

Come on Cliffe. Such a Brilliant mind, yet believing in evolution. Not good. The devil has used evolution to turn so many away from Christ. The earth was made in 6 days and God rested on the 7th. God's given certain animals the ability to adapt, but that's it. May Jesus bless whoever maybe reading this.
