@@lcy3877 we (chinese and pribumi ethnicity) never *forced* but we *chose* to use Bahasa as main communication language. Are U never wondered WHY Official Language not Javanese ( largest population) or Sundanese ( second largest) BUT we chose Bahasa Indonesia ( Malay language with Dutch and other languages influence ) ?? our *founding fathers* chose Bahasa as Main language because of History and for unity in diversity reason. Bahasa was *Lingua Franca* of Nusantara ancient Kingdoms long time ago, they use Bahasa to communicate between different Kingdoms and ethnics. Still until today many ethnicity (including Chinese) still use their mother tongue as their communicatio between their own, if you travel to Indonesia you will hear many different *mother tongue* still regularlly spoken (include Mandarin, Hokkian etc. of chinese ethnics). Talking About *discrimination* toward Chinese Ethnicity is a *political reason* created by old colonial and old goverment back than, today after *Reformation era* we had *diminish* most all discrimination toward chinese ethnicity, all Chinese have equality right in all sector. In Singapore Government school it's compulsory to learn Mother Tongue language mainly; Malay, Chinese (Mandarin) or Tamil. Some schools may even allow other races to learn other language as their Mother Tongue Language. Example, a Malay is allowed to learn Mandarin instead of Malay language. In Secondary schools, a 3rd Language is offered to all the students. It can be any of these 3 languages or others, like Japanese, French, Spanish and so on.😊

Most Chinese will learn only Chinese and English languages in schools so that’s why they don’t know Malay and in most situations, English is the default language used so there is really no need to learn Malay.

As funny as this video is, it also shows how little the supermajority, Chinese have the need to know about the other races. Minorities,on the other hand, being exposed to a heavily Chinese dominated environment have no choice but to learn about them. It is a sad reality..and yes, as an indian i know more about the malay culture than the chinese ppl in this video. I can say the same about the malays who are more likely to know abt our culture than the Chinese. A change is needed guys❤
