Family upbringing really plays a major influence on your life. My high school classmate never got as high a score as I did although he worked harder than me, but still got a much better job than mine. His father is a notable professor in our prestigious local university. His father absolutely guides his way much better than mine...

i absolutely agree with u. Its all about : Good education--has a cap for the profession, n LUCK, Timming, Experience, Personality, Communication skills and able ness/competence to adapt n prosper under presure n set backs (has a Karen professor/boss etc.). Even their Attractiveness is in the play. Even the role has nothing to do with attractiveness. But when comes to pick 2 ppl that equal score, then d hot one has an extra edge. Cuz human ARE Biased. We cant dictate ourselves out of it.

@@Louis-qo7tf I think a millionaire is anyone with over 1m dollars in available assets ready for use, as opposed to their total net worth based on property or items. Excluding their home value and whatever it is worth, if they have over 1m around in stocks or just in the bank ready for use, yes they are millionaires and not 'upper middle-class'. They paid for their kids tuition with 100,000$ straight from their bank account. It's very simple, that is not something a middle-class person can do, they don't have that kind of money to just take out.

well, I definitely get the point you're making, but because I know there can be free education like in Europe where I'm living, I bet there are better opportunities in comparison to the US for people who don't have a lot of money just because theoretical you only need to graduate from highschool (Gymnasium) here to go to university...
@evapolovina7600

Well, in my European country where education is free, getting a Bachelors and a Masters isn’t even enough to get a job because the job market is so bad and many people leave, sometimes for the US. So even if you graduate from a university, it doesn’t really help bring people out of poverty and social mobility is lower than in the U.S.

My friend did her BA degree in English Literature at Harvard. She came from an upper middle class family. There are all types of classes of students who go there. You will find poor kids on a full scholarship, and rich kids whose parents pay the more than $70,000 a year it costs for tuition and board. If you get to graduate school there are tuition waivers and stipends (TA or RA). But there are huge share of rich kids attending. The same with Yale, Princeton, MIT, Stanford, and Cornell. Oxford had the same demographics: lots of rich kids but many people from lower class backgrounds.
