I hear ya! My mom went to some record store - bless the guy - in 1969 when I was 12 and showing an interest in guitar. She asked for a guitar-oriented album and he gave her Wheels of Fire. It could have been The Ventures, it could have been The Shadows. But he chose Wheels of Fire. Changed my life. 55 years later I still play Jack Bruce riffs (on a Fender VI as my arthritis makes a long scale bass difficult to manage), in everything from Bollywood Indian pop songs to heavy metal to blues. That album lifted the top of my little brain, swirled everything around, and put it back in my head. When Cream broke up I followed more of the Jack Bruce oddities and Ginger Baker world music rather than Eric Clapton's shift to pop music (tho I love those albums too). I was the only one in high school listening to Things We Like or Morning Story or Timeslip instead of Kiss.

I was so blessed to have met Jack once while he was touring with West, Bruce and Lang at Pirates World in Dania, Florida. Also having my question answered on this interview series. Jack remains a constant inspiration in my life.

Just posting with respect to my childhood HERO. I was 11yrs in 67 and music was everything to me. I lived every minute listening to albums my friends older brothers and sisters turned me on to and started hanging out with older teenagers. Started playing playing Bass and Guitar in 68 and never stopped. Jack Bruce was and IS the greatest of them all for many reasons, but his Bass playing and Singing were truly magical... I loved him very much.

I heard this interview and his interview at the Y in NYC and he sounded so ill....so sad. I really wished Cream had reunited in the late 90s... before the transplant. RIP, Jack, you inspired me and your music is on my car audio system every day

He sounds so frail in this clip, sadly. He and McCartney are the reasons I picked up bass.

Unfortunate choice of background noise is very distracting.
@MortslakeАй бұрын
The "Background Noise" is songs from the "Silver Rails" album that was released around the same time as this interview was conducted. If you cant distinguish the voices from the music, i believe a doctor can help you..maybe.
@paulbcoteАй бұрын
@@Mortslake Sorry to be negative. This sounds like a valuable interview. The overlay of two vocal tracks divides the attention and makes it difficult to sort out. Nevertheless, thank you for creating and posting this
@JamesJeude11 сағат бұрын
@@Mortslake Great album, but I'd also vote for less background music on videos. Videos from changing spark plugs to digging a post hold to interviewing a world-changing musician seem to have some background music going that can, of course, be sorted out without help of a Doctor - but why?
