After Hurricane Ike we had no electricity for 2 weeks. 15 days to be exact. It was Hell, and that was in September! Even our poor animals were getting sick from it. It was very depressing too, actually. You feel forgotten. Also, when we lost our electricity half the neighborhood got their power back after 3 days, but for us it was 15 days. It was difficult seeing their lights on all that time, knowing they had AC all day long. We don't have basements here. What we did is use the generator for the fridge/freezer. At night we installed an AC unit in the bedroom window. We threw an extra mattress on the floor, and that's where the animals and I slept. During the day it was TORTURE, because there's nothing at all that you can do cool off. Absolutely nothing. At nighttime, however, once that AC was cooling that one room... I had never slept so great in my life. It was so nice. (The first night I slept outside in the backyard, b/c the temps that night cooled down enough from the storm to be bearable. After that, however, the mosquitoes came out and the heat returned so that's when we brought out that wonderful AC for the evenings). When the electricity came back on I felt like I was hooked up to a grid. Lol! It was so weird. I could feel this electricity in my body and my senses were OVERWHELMED, but oh boy.... was I happy! I giggled throughout the entire house as I turned on the AC, lights, etc. I felt like I had died and gone to Heaven. Even the dogs and cats cheered up. Humidity - The humidity IS THE HELL down here. It never ever leaves!!!!! It's so bad that almost every single morning the house itself is soaked like you just had a rainstorm, and the grass is so wet that you have to wait hours to even mow your grass. (Which sucks because down here you have to do all your outdoor projects early in the morning or late in the evening, because of the temperatures). The humidity is WAY WORSE than the heat itself. It's why we hate summers so much, which lasts until at least late September. The humidity is so strong here that you already feel it once you open a door. You don't even have to step outside to feel it. It comes AT you. But the humidity.... it is VERY, VERY, VERY humid down here. It's the worst. It's Hell. It isn't a dry heat. The other day the heat index was 114, and then add that damn humidity to that. Summer is torturous, so that's why we try to spend as much of it as possible indoors. There are still people without electricity from Hurricane Beryl. My heart goes out to them. (I've been watching the "Longhorn Lester" - and his family's - KZfaq channels. I love watching how they come together to help each other. They just suffered through ANOTHER flood, and now this happens to them as well). That's how it was in our neighborhood back during Hurricane Ike. Everyone just steps up and helps each other. You cook all your food before it has time to go bad and share it with everyone on your block. You share your generator with a neighbor if they don't have one. You work together because you HAVE to in order to survive and get through it as "comfortably" as possible. Everyone has their crazy moments during all that stress, not only physically but emotionally, but overall you see more of the good in people. Sorry for rambling, but yes... we DO have humidity, and A LOT!!! It's ALL humidity. Its why summer is such Hell.

There is no such thing as a good HOA. The % of AZ HOMES HAVING AN HOAIS ASTOUNDING! No oversight except th RE Board…which I would think also oversees RE closings… where buyers MUST sign that you have read the CCR’s and Rules and Regulatiioms…and AGREE to them. Then if you ask to see them- they tell you your HOA will mail them to you. You may not close UNLESS you sign this. Then- the HOA doesn’t send you the CCR’s & RR’s- which can be found on line. When I purchased - the copies on line only had 1/2 of the pages readable- Mgmnt claimed it was the clearest copy they had??? Then Mgmnt told me they can change anything anytime ???

AZ CONT. Secret Ballot elections… the 80/20 HO vote has been taken away. They DO NOT get bids on work and Mgmt ignores requests for repairs or claims she didn’t get the E-mail. Also when I mentioned I might run to for the board… she told me IF you are on the board…you would know secrets you could not speak of. It’s apparent to most-elections are not legal…and some folks - have never been on the ballot but remained on the board. Every year the fees get raised and never do they do what they’ve talked about or the reason they must raise the fees- but do less and less- removing natural ground cover and trees for untruthful reasons…claiming it will save water ( which they have never done except the courtyard where they water rocks, sometimes purposely let things die so they can take it out. It does get worse believe me! HOA’s are another 3 letter agency that have been weaponized. AND only as good as the worst board member that gets in. While there are some decent folks voted in… the sensible ones are harassed OR leave out of frustration and embarrassment. It is a construct that often attracts those often who have the need to bully, control others because of their disorders or lack of life. They don’t want Owners to talk to one an ther and refuse to do a directory. People once on the board…won’t look you in the eye once they are in…or defend you from the lies of that special one ( likely for fear of retaliation and the fact they actually may have lives and the fact it saves them work! ). Since I’ve moved in 9 years ago- I’ve watched many good People and families move & rent or sell…when I ask them why.. they are polite and say they loved it here but just can’t live here…obvious to me now why and explains the transient place it has become. They only care about enforcing rules on the homeowners and fail to take care of their responsibility according to the CCR’s. The BS is ridiculous…and while they do and redo crap because of their poor planning- they ignore what would be preventative and wait until it costs us all 3 X what it would have and call the owners slumlords if the unit is leased….to be continued!

1/4 of a million a year in fees… for 76 homes of 80 and buyers are deeded 1/80 Undivided share ( 4 went into the river in a 100 year flood)…yet i of those 4 lots is for sale and in the name of the HOA- I believe Transparancy would be a given- but - the other 3 lots are in she’ll corporations as couples names who can’t be found and don’t hav e taxes paid because we pay them. I asked when I moved in how often they inspect the roofs…as before my purchase… inspection on my unit was not good…Mgmnt said “Oh we don’t unless an owner calls”. The unit next to mine was so bad…I was told it would likely damage my unit if it rained! AND when I asked about the 1/80 we are all deeded…and wasn’t that a collective decision by the HO’s? Mgmnt said “Oh No… the common area is held in a trust by an attorney- because Homeowners come and go! Well yes they do here.,.AND FOR GOOD REASON… And if o hear from management ONE MORE Time the excuse for ignoring work you asked for- “well they werent built that well to begin with…” I’ll throw up. Roofs are they’re responsibility as well as paying the water and Sewer ( + painting E Exterior repairs, trash, pick plus more. I am almost 70- and have had to make many of my own repairs, paint and And landscaped after waiting three years for them to fix flooding. Most plants here would be dead by now if homeowners didn’t take care of them and although I haven’t planted anything new out front, our maintenance man only have worked on my place twice and usually because of retribution from a certain board member which devaluated my sale value at the time. One time when I did ask the maintenance guys, please blow out all the debris from the plants out of the common area in front of my place, and I asked him if you happen to have a business card in the truck because I thought I’d talk to the boss and see if they could blow corner. The HOA spent our money for me to get a two page cease-and-desist letter that I am who I am not allowed to speak to the contractors and they will do what they want to the common area and threatened me with court!They now have a plan to use and save our contributions to meter each of our homes separately, so it is apparent that they’re allowed to change the CCR‘s whenever they want and I believe the real estate board should have to answer for that situation as well. No doubt the AZ SIPREME court would prefer to not have to write a whole new set of additional legslation every year or two thanks to mostly the ridiculous things these evil constructs do in their crazy thinking and attempts at making HO miserable! Recently, they made a new rule that homeowners can’t go swim in the pool they paid for and and fees cover the maintenance- adults must have another person with them or they may not Use the pool. It is just absurd and wow, I can see coordinating a community. The rules could be kept simple, but that’s not what these groups do and they could care less about the other homeowners, which makes no sense when they are your fellow homeowner ???they lose it.!!!
