Italian Health Policy Brief periodico di informazione e dibattito sulle politiche sanitarie, ha sviluppato la ricerca qualitativa "Asma grave disease management e patient flow in PS" una survey che ha fotografato fedelmente il setting del paziente con asma grave nel suo percorso di accesso, presa in carico, dimissione dal pronto soccorso. La ricerca ha mostrato che in quasi la metà dei casi, il paziente con asma grave viene trasportato in pronto soccorso in ambulanza con un attacco percepito come grave o quasi mortale dai medici. La metà dei pazienti viene trattenuta per osservazione, la metà viene ricoverata e la metà viene inviata ad altri ospedali o a domicilio. La ricerca ha evidenziato l'importanza di avere protocolli e linee guida per la gestione dei pazienti con asma grave in pronto soccorso. Tuttavia, solo il 50% degli ospedali ha questi protocolli. La presenza di team multidisciplinari e percorsi strutturati per pazienti con asma grave in pronto soccorso ha migliori esiti e una gestione più appropriata. Tuttavia, la ricerca ha anche mostrato una grande variabilità nei modelli di gestione dei pazienti con asma grave. Il vero problema, secondo la ricerca, è il follow-up territoriale del paziente dimesso dal pronto soccorso, che richiede un piano ben concordato e condiviso tra tutti gli attori coinvolti, incluso il paziente. Le associazioni dei pazienti hanno dichiarato che questi sono elementi che riscontrano da anni e chiedono interventi per modificare questa situazione. English: The video is about a qualitative research conducted by the Italian Health Policy Brief on the management of patients with severe asthma in the Italian emergency departments.
