And the best part about Windu's saber is, he got it because the actor wanted it, so Lucas decided to grant him his wish and add entire lore to it. Then there's Filoni who gives his characters orange sabers because they looked orange on his old TV screen.

Part of the original gag in A New Hope was how quickly she takes charge of the situation the moment she's been rescued. She immediately starts critiquing their escape plan, and begins leading them. She almost immediately makes a decision that saves their skin by blasting open a vent that they can get out through. Nevermind the fact that she is able to resist the torture and didn't give up the rebel base. People see Leia's inclusion in the story as a princess who need saving and don't think past that. It's a trope that helps to call back to those classic adventure stories, but Leia herself is a twist on what you'd expect. She isn't just some damsel. She's a total subversion on what you'd expect a damsel to be. And she was a good friend.

What about Ahsoka Tano? She was your father’s exotic teenage alien apprentice, a fine piece of jailbait from a more civilized age. She had the tightest body and the perkiest little breasts in the galaxy; barely legal in most systems. Anakin and I used to doubleteam her at the end of every successful campaign during the Clone Wars, and once in a while we’d even have the entire 501st run a train over her, part of official Jedi “training” of course. He should have never sold it. It should have been protected as one of the best science fiction stories we ever produced as a species. I think fans now have the responsibility to be very clear about where the cut-off is for ACTUAL star wars canon. Disney doesn't deserve to say what's canon and what's not because clearly they didn't have the best intentions with the franchise, they pretty much made it about politics which is really frustrating.

@@miguelorozco4445Well, episode 7 seven was a copy of episode 4 but people could overlook that if the sequels were going to be good. Episode 8 was shit, but at least put Kylo Ren as the main antagonist for the next film and that thing with children that could use the force. Then came episode 9 and threw everything that episode 8 established. Making it more like a fight between directors than an actual movie. With lots of plot holes like the need of a wayfinder to reach the sith planet but with lots of spaceships built there, with only two in existence, and then on the final battle the rebels arrive because... Who knows, the plot needed it. Those movies left an awful taste in the mouth of the fans, that I doubt people are going to see the "Ray movie". Look at what's happening to marvel, they keep losing money, Star Wars is in that state. Nobody is seeing their series and The Mandalorian the only good one was butchered in the third season.

They adapted some of his plan in the clone wars. The plan was for Maul to come back as both a sith and a crime lord with Darth Talon as his apprentice. They would effectively control all of the crime syndicates in the galaxy and be the antagonist for Leia's new republic. Personally I think putting some godfather in star wars would've been pretty interesting.

@@HarrDarronly the dialogs were bad and ironicaly in delete scenes we can hear ones on pair with OT. Speciall effects got kinda dated but are still awesome for being almost full CGI and over 20 years old. Worldbuilding , character designs overall story etc were epic!

Im pretty sure he had plenty of money and the same mansion even before selling Star Wars to Disney. He probably made hundreds of millions even before selling SW to Disney. For example The Phantom Menace made over a billion dollars in revenue and then theres all the other Star Wars related stuff made that also generated money for him. Not to mention that he also made such movies as the Indiana Jones series... He honestly didnt need that 4 billion.

The phantom menace made over $900,000,000 in 1999 and during the release those numbers added up to make $1,000,000,000 so no. He didn't have enough money because he wasn't a made man yet especially during the 70s and 80s so he needed the original trilogy to make a profit. His votes were accorded to his trust into Disney's CEO Robert Iger. But Iger is not the one making decisions in Lucasfilms. Call it naivety if you want, but at one point we all have been naive thinking Disney could have done a good job on this license when they've never been able to produce good sci-fi movies... or actually successful ones (the Treasure Planet is an underrated jewel).

He put Kathleen Kennedy there in the first place and supported Iger, as I’ve already said. If you want me to be more blunt, he didn’t even direct movies 4-6. Lucas deserves no praise

Because I feel like adding this as a fun fact: You guys wanna know why Luke's Jedi-onward lightsaber is green? Because Tatooine's blue sky clashed with it in editing. Lightsabers being anything but red and blue *was literally an editing fix.* That's why you have all sorts of colors, and why Lucas ended up going "yeah sure go nuts" when Samuel L Jackson asked for a purple saber. And if you wanna see blue saber Return of the Jedi, there are clips of it that effectively restore what it would've looked like without clashing too hard with the backdrop. People literally made a Lucas edit FOR HIM just to see what it looked like. THAT'S the kind of fanbase Lucas cultivated, recreating history. ...Unless those clips were original filming in which case that's just astounding for preservation.

Lucas was groundbreaking decades ahead of time making Princess Leia the leader & hero of the Rebellion. Lando was a hero that blew up the second Death Star. Star Wars was always diversified decades before it became mainstream. It worked because Lucas wrote epic stories with characters people loved that connected to them. He didn't force it.

Are you aware of the fact that Lucas took the idea for STAR WARS from THE HIDDEN FORTRESS? Are you yet another STAR WARS fanatic who hasn't bothered watching the film all these years later? Princess Leia is just an Americanised version of Princess Yuki. THE HIDDEN FORTRESS was made in Japan in 1958, and the film had *that* kind of character in there. That's far more impressive than a 1977 American film, not even set on Planet Earth, having the same type of female character.

What's crazy is to see here some comments saying "Leia wasn't a main character in the movies" Yes, she fucking was. Head of the rebelion, badass women you fights back and never scared of anything. Without her, there was no rebellion and impossible for Luke and Han to do anything. And EVEN if for some people she wasn't that "impactful", if the director, creator of the character says that Leia is the main protagonist, then she fucking is and there's no arguments to have with, it's HIS character and he can decide what the fuck he wants her to be and nobody can say otherwise becauce it's HIS creation.

You should remember that Leia mounting her own escape was staged, as was the whole thing that stormtroopers can't aim. The empire allowed them to escape so they could follow them to the rebel base.

And the reason he's the richest is because he built his studio, Industrial Light and Magic, Skywalker Sound, LucasArts, etc. himself and worked outside the studio system so that he could create something unique and innovative. He retained all the merchandise rights for his films and made billions on toys and game sales. He funded The Phantom Menace out of pocket himself, making it the most successful indie film of all time. Other directors like the most profitable director in history Michael Bay have a total box office of $6.5 billion, plus merch from his films, but he's only worth $450 million. George Lucas is quite simply the most self made man in history.
