I’m Mexican and grew up eating conchas and other Mexican sweet bread varieties on almost a weekly basis lol. My mom never made them. We bought them at local bakery’s where they are baked fresh. I think most people get them from bakeries. They’re delicious with ice cold milk, coffee, or Mexican hot chocolate. 💙

The topping is basically a paste made with sugar,flour and shortening. You place it on top of the not baked concha. To make the designs we have these things like cookies cutters to make the shapes. Then it’s baked!! Pretty easy. I need milk with them though.

Apparently A concha's crust is typically composed of some kind of fat, sugar, and a little flour, traditionally made in one of three colors: white (vanilla), brown (chocolate), or pink. (Pink conchas are sometimes flavored with strawberry, but more often than not, they are simply dyed with food coloring.)…they look muy delicioso!! They can be eaten for breakfast with hot chocolate, coffee or milk; snacked on as an anytime pick-me-up; or even split in half to make sandwiches.

Omg, I finished HS, 3 years ago, and I used to get these all the time for breakfast, and I loved how they’re not overly as sweet as your typical sweet food😅

Pop them in the microwave for 5-10 seconds. Slightly warm, they are amazing! It’s a dry bread where the sweet is in the topping so it’s not overtly sweet. Best served with coffee, hot chocolate or something warm.

I love getting these conchas, whenever my parents bring them home from the store. First time I tried it- Oh! Heaven. I'm part Mexican, so I loved eating these. And H-E-B?! Same! We have one in Frisco and I missed getting those!
