You missed one World Heritage Site there! One of the Wooden Hypostyle Mosques of Medieval Anatolia (another new World Heritage Site from 2023) is also located in Ankara. But no worries because there are a bunch throughout other provinces of Türkiye too 😊

there's a beautiful breed of cats that originated from this region called Turkish Angora! there's documentation of them as early as the 16th century if I remember correctly :)

I vacationed in Ankara in July and August of this year. Hamamönü and the museums there are lovely, not to mention the view from Ankara Castle is amazing. I can''t wait to go back.

They changed their spelling officially last year. Still pronounced the same!

Türkiye is how we call our country in Turkish. The government changed the international name as Türkiye, that's a diplomatic change. Calling a country with the name of a bird species sounded weird ig 😅
