For a simple shortcut to buying buttermilk just take one cup of milk and add a tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice, mix them together then let the mixture stand for at least five minutes to thicken. Quick alternative if you do not have buttermilk on hand.

Me, being from Kentucky, I half expected a Kentucky butter cake to just be 12 sticks of butter in a casserole dish with Crisco and Cool Whip slapped on top of it. However, it seems really good! I had just never heard of it until now! Great video, Mary!

I think you are talking about the scene where mrs. doubtfire meets miranda and she asks if she decorated the home herself and miranda says "yes i did" the robin williams says it reeks of taste. I love that movie also.

Oh wow this looks heavenly!! You did such a lovely job baking this! I usually use 1 tbsp of vinegar or lemon juice to 1 cup of milk to make butter milk because I also never have it on hand.. I need to make this now. 🤩👌

I know this is over a year old but there _is_ a difference between a bunt pan and a tube pan. A tube pan has a flat bottom that detaches from the pan wall (almost like a spring form pan) so that you can hang an angel food cake upside down on a bottle so it doesn't deflate.

You may already know this and have your reasons for not doing it this way, but wanted to share just in case. One tip for getting the cake out of the pan without it falling apart is to cover the pan with the wax paper and cooling rack, then flip them all together. This makes for a softer landing for the cake 🍰 I'm definitely getting that Pam flour spray for my next cake! Thank you for the tip! I saw it in the store, but was skeptical, but now that I know it's Mary Approved, I know it actually works!

I'm aware of that, but for some reason, doing it that way really freaks me out. I can't explain it, but something about it just feels wildly wrong to me. Instead, I just take my chances and dump that sucker out.

When I invert a cake (or similar), I often put the cooling rack over top of the pan and then turn it over yo prevent any “accidents”. Loved your video! 💜
