It's so nice opening a video and not having Ryan Reynolds talk to me about cell phones or Airbnb

So I watched The Seventh Continent because I was intrigued by this scene. Now I am sad. Excellent movie, though. Thanks.

The Seventh Continent is a wild choice because that movie gave me so much anxiety, but these scenes are excellent asmr Really great picks and great taste in films too!

Some of these scenes just go ON AND ON. How long do we need to watch clothes being destroyed? If I were watching the movie I’d be fast forwarding. Lol

Years ago, I went into slow movies with the same question as you, and I realised that they're like that because they're less about the plot and more about the experience of the "reality" of what's on screen, like, the rhythm of it, the meditative quality. I was watching the movie "Norte" and there was a scene where a character stops walking in the middle of the street and it looks like an idea hit him and I instantly knew what he was gonna do without any dialogue or hints because I already spent so much time with him. And there are movies like Ozu movies where the slowness makes the movie melancholic. Or movies like Perfect Days where it's relaxing. There are also some movies like the last movie in this video that use those slow scenes to build tension and a sense of isolation. They look boring outside the context of the movie but they work in it. I'm not saying all slow movies are masterpieces. There are duds, but you can always tell when a director has purpose in doing it or is just doing it because of cluelessness.

it's called immersion, real life is pretty slow so they try to capture that by making things take their time
