If it's any consolation, Kate, "Whereof" was such a weird answer. In my thirty years, I don't think I've ever heard anyone use that word instead of "Why" or the more simpler "Where", plus I had no clue whatsoever what a "Gorse" was. Google told me the answer, that it was a plant also known as "Furze", but that answer sounds horrifically obscure unless you REALLY know your plantlife...

I had to look up gorse and still didn’t know furze 😆 That was tricky but such a treat even still! Thanks so much!

Curiously soothing and yet frustrating, I wanted so badly to tell you the name for gorse! But then it struck me that a crossword might be just the thing for a live session with real participation from your followers. Nerve wracking but it might catch on!
