What is ASMR?
To me, ASMR is 2 things: a sensation and a medium (like music for example).
The sensation itself (ASMR) stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and is the current (non-scientific) name given to the feeling characterized as a pleasurable tingling sensation felt in the head, scalp, back and other regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli, such as crinkling bags, hand movements, whispering and personal attention. It's like goosebumps, but much more pleasant.
ASMR videos, the medium, are not only meant to help induce the sensation or "tingles" in the viewer, but also help provide a relaxing, calming and soothing experience for the viewer. They often help those dealing with anxiety, stress, headaches, insomnia, mental health issues, concentrating, studying and more. It is quite therapeutic, for both the creator and recipient, which is not that much different than the mediums of music and painting, for example.
Many people who do not experience ASMR still enjoy the videos for their calming and sleepy affect.

It makes me think: why not make a "Silent" ASMR video in which silence would be the trigger. For example there could be a white noise in the background and suddenly it stops while a visual trigger is performed. that may be interesting.

Thank you so much for these, Rift. I have social anxiety and I am sensitive to overly loud sounds and school can be very stressful. Having an ASMR series which focuses on being as quiet as possible helps me relax and get a healthy rest when I'm finally at home.

Honestly, this is the first ASMR video I have ever fallen asleep to. Usually I stay awake, and it's quite frustrating being unable to drift off to something so relaxing. But last night I found myself waking up to my alarm before I knew what hit me. Thank you.

Wundermous. The mortar & pestle & salt are always a major trigger for me. This time they made all my joints go insta-gelatinous. From the ankles all the way up to the neck, and that was very good. By the time ER hoped our brains were "goop" mine was more like air, and happy to be an airhead, I was.
