What is ASMR?
ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and it is a term that categorises the pleasant (non-sexual) feeling of 'goosebumps' or 'chills' that some can feel when they are being triggered by an external stimuli such as whispering, personal attention or certain sounds.

not sure if anyone's pointed it out, but here's some useless info: the numbers on each fork are the frequency (in Hertz/Hz) in which they resonate, the higher the number, the more vibrations the fork makes which means the higher the pitch. Thow lower the number/frequency, the less vibrations it makes, meaning the pitch will be lower. Also, spinning the forks sounds really cool! Reminds me of the rotary speakers used in some organs

+ipg616 well in theory, in this case not so much. for example a doubling of frequency indicates an octave difference, yet most of the forks don't correspond to this. I tested it, and as far as i can tell the 512 fork is the only one that actually corresponds to its correct frequency. the others are a little bit off, but with the 2048hz fork for example it is around 750Hz lower than its specified frequency.

+sichosi you need to take into account that notes are made up of harmonics. A note is defined by it's lowest harmonic, which in this case would correspond to the numbers on WhisperAudios' forks. If you don't believe me, take a synth (there are a million available for freeon the internet) and make sure you have 1 voicing. Run that through a spectral analyser or an EQ which shows frequency analysis and you'll see each harmonic of the note you're playing. Just play a C2, C3, C4, C4 etc and you'll see the frequencies of the lowest harmonic of each note match the frequencies said here. I can create an infographic if you'd like?

+ipg616 Yeah I am aware of frequency harmonics, my point was if you are planning on tuning to a 2048Hz frequency, then you would expect the fundamental to correspond to the frequency (in this case obviously 2048Hz). the forks do not, as the frequency the 2048Hz fork is around 1300Hz, which as I said places it around 700Hz lower than its said value. While 1300Hz does relate (about a 6th below), this would change the fundamental therefore lowering the perceived pitch, meaning the 2048 fork is not tuned to 2048. That was my point.

+sichosi besides, tuning forks are designed to give a pure tone at a specific pitch frequency, so the percieved note is going to be the fundamental. the 2048 in this video does not correspond to an actual 2048Hz tone. The only one that does is the 512Hz, like I said. I would be happy to use Max 7 using their sine generators in relation to the video to prove this.

3) 10:24- "512" sounded the best. You could use to wood dowel you have for the metal bowl ( I don't remember what it's called) and the sound would be cool if you gently tap it on it. I did that in elementary school and it always sounded amazing to me. :)

I voted for both 1024 and 128. 128 is like a drone you hear on a plane or something, but the weirdest reaction, it affects my lower jaw!!! o.O It sort of tickles there. 1024 is 2nd place (tapping 512 was fantastic) and is nice for some reason, but it also reminds me of ear tests at school. Seeing the nurse at school always made me feel "empowered" for some reason, like I could pass every test with flying colors. Back on the playground, though, I was back to being mild-mannered shy guy. :( Awesome video, I've never watched a tuning fork ASMR video before (seen them, never clicked on them). What a surprise, these really work!

the number is the number of Hertz it's atuned to, and the letter is the key. So, 2048C would be a C note, 2048 Hertz (~2GHz). Interesting to see that tuning forks use powers of 2.. (2048 is 2^11, 1024 is 2^10, 512 is 2^9 etc)

As a geek, I can tell you the numbers on the tuning forks are called Hertz or Hz. The bigger the number, the higher the pitch. That's why the 128 has a lower tone than the 2048 because it doesn't vibrate as fast. By the way, I vote for the 256.

128 was my favourite. You should try hitting it with a chopstick. My friend Charlie used to hit his tuning fork with a chopstick when he was tuning broccoli for planting purposes.

Love the video! Keep in mind you really don't need to bang the forks against anything. You can damage them and throw off the tuning. Just a nice pat against your leg will do.

I have tinnitus and that's ringing in the ears. I started to wonder if I could nullify the sound from my ears with a fork, and 128 sounds the most promising, but until it touches my head while ringing, I won't know if it would work. I can't tell a doctor what tone my ears are ringing at, and this was a start of my hunting. Thanks.

+Val Ankers I hope that you can sort this out! I know that tinnitus is quite common in a lot of people. You can actually buy these tuning forks on eBay, so maybe get yourself a set and try it out at home? I think they were only about £15 so about $20-25 ?

So if the numbers are indeed the frequency of the pitches, you have at least two that are incorrect. The highest one is labeled C, but clearly sounds as an E. Then the 1024, and 512 are about right, as 440 is concert A, and 512 the C above it, or at least thereabouts. 256 is indeed around Middle C, so that one was fine. The thing about sound is that for each doubling of the frequency, the pitch goes up one full octave, and the inverse is true. All of the forks should sound C, but they don't. The highest one is an E, and the lowest one (128) is around an f-sharp. I don't know if you were suppose to get all C pitches, and if so, you got gipped! That being said, I liked 256' and 2048 the best. Side note, generally turning forked are stuck with a rubber tipped mallet, or just on the fleshy but of your thigh or arm, as this reduces the amount of secondary ring, leaving a purer pitch sound.
