What is ASMR?
In my subjective view, ASMR is 2 things: a sensation and a medium (like music for example).
The sensation itself (ASMR) stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and is the current (non-scientific) name given to the feeling characterized as a pleasurable tingling sensation felt in the head, scalp, back and other regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli, such as crinkling bags, hand movements, whispering and personal attention.
ASMR videos, the medium, are not only meant to help induce the sensation or "tingles", but also help provide a relaxing, calming and soothing experience for the viewer while helping to relieve their anxiety, stress, headaches, insomnia, to help those suffering with PTSD or depression, to serve as a study aid and much more. It is quite therapeutic, for both the creator and recipient, not much different than the mediums of music and painting.
Many people who do not experience ASMR still enjoy the videos for their calming and sleepy affect.

God damn, an alien role-play would be awesome. remaining silent as you see an egg and approaching it slowly, boots hitting the metal ground, heavy breathing out of fear. then cut to view of the face hugger, and rift getting close, whispering as to not scare the hugger, getting up close and on either side as inspecting the face hugger

Perhaps you could have the face hugger as means to further Corvus's research into immortality. An example could be that the xenomorph's innate ability to acquire traits from their original host could be isolated from the face hugger and applied to the vampire blood to imbue to a patient with an extended life span. Or something along these lines if my statement makes little sense.

the phenomenon you where talking about with the wires eventually snapping is called strain hardening or cold working. deforming the crystal structure of the steel hardens and enbrittles it until it snaps instead of bending.
