Michael Soothing ASMR

Vinyl record ramble from a collection going back decades, a discussion of the music and the time, headphones or ear buds with low volume works best, Virtually no editing on this one.

As an audio engineer, this video made me incredibly happy. Just hearing you talk about I/Os, clear signal, 10 band EQs, and pre-amps brought much joy. Subscribed!

I just adore seeing other people's vinyl record collections. I'm waiting on a huge order of... well pretty much all of George Harrison's solo stuff. It really is fantastic to see an ASMRtist not touch the groove of a records, and put them in the inner sleeves (so many people nowadays bin them and I just despair with them XD ).

OMG so true. I absolutely cringe so much when I see people put their hands on the grooves.

I'm eighteen and I absolutely love Count Basie, and my girlfriend is obsessed with all those 60s and 70s artists like Jimi Hendrix and Steve Miller Band, Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, stuff like that, and she got me into it and I have to say it's often a lot better than many new releases in modern days. And yes I agree with needing "My Own Space" :)

Thank you John, kumakun, and Master. And it is so good to know that your girlfriend and you and others among the youth crowd are re discovering some of the excellent bands of the past. Not just classic/prog rock, but in other genres as well.

I wish more people listened to progressive music and at least tried out vinyl records. Been a fan of ELP, Kansas, Mike Oldfield, Camel, King Crimson, and other 70s prog bands since I was 16, now it feels like music has lost its soul. Wonderful video, just subscribed :)

Yeah, I remember listening to my college buddy Jeff's audio system way back in 1972! He had Acoustic Research speakers and an AR (as we called it) turntable. I don't know what amp he used. But that was the most fantastically clear & accurate and wonderful sound system I'd ever heard!! Just amazing from bookshelf speakers. I had to get with it, too!

Here's a sad story that you will appreciate but not too many will. In about 1993 I bought some Advent tower speakers from Sears!! Yeah :) for $300 I think. It was a lot of cash for me then. I remember listening to them and marveling at the perfect clarity in the highs, and the precise focus of the sound. No muddiness in the sound at all that I could tell. They were sweet speakers. And I mean they had a truly sweet sound in the highs, midrange and lows!! Well, dumbbo me, I GAVE them to a "girlfriend" :( What a dufus. She didn't appreciate them at all (like I d). She's long gone but I truly miss them!

"Revolution #9" is actually a sound collage. The laidback version of "Revolution" is not on the album, it was released as a single only.

The slow version of Revolution is on my double white album, sounds track 25, between "long, long long" and "Honeypie"., "Revolution Number 9" is track 29 on the same album.

Sorry, I've got confused for a moment and typed the wrong word. So: you say in the video that there is the hardcore version on the album and the slow version is "Revolution #9", while the hardcore version of "Revolution" is actually not on the album at all, and the slow one is but it is actually "Revolution 1", with "Revolution #9" being a sound collage. Unless you have an exotic version of the album which has them another way. There, I think now I've nailed it :-)

@Michael Soothing ASMR I could pay attention to this voice for hours... It was Mark Chapman who shot the late great John Lennon. Keep up the great ASMR videos. It's easy to listen to clever people sharing their knowledge. fyi... The cover of Abbey Road has been altered now to rid Paul's right hand of that cigarette.... So take care of your original one.

An "MP3" as you're comparing to CD's and other older media are vastly different depending on the bitrate. CD's utilize the same "data streaming" technique that an MP3 file does. I'm sorry to rush to the defense of MP3's. I just feel compelled to explain when someone misunderstands something that I'm privy to. Analog media like records, are likely producing unique background noise, usually called "more substance" which triggers the nostalgia of hearing it the first time, or being younger in general. It's just like anything else. Scientifically, Mathematically, if you want to reproduce sound, the more data you can cram into a smaller unit of time, the closer you get to absolute authentic reproduction. Sounds like you had a low quality MP3, coupled with a nostalgia for the overall sound of the imperfections of analog that you are used to.
