Greetings from England! I use Aldi quite a lot, on a recent visit I got chatting with one of the cashiers and asked her why they scan things so fast! She informed me that they work on a bonus system for how many items they scan an hour! Thought this might help shed some light on why they're so quick! Keep up the good work!

That's so interesting about your misophonia with coffee sounds. I don't know why, but I assumed it was mostly triggered by mouth sounds. Mine is triggered when people chew loudly or when my dogs smack their lips or make loud licking sounds. I get so anxious when I'm around other people who eat loudly. It makes me so mad!

hahaha...OMG...I promise I'm not a snob, except when it comes to my coffee. I am definitely a coffee snob. Aldi coffee is great! I buy their organic, fair trade, whole bean (I sound like that sanctimommy now, lmao) and yes, I do grind it myself to a particular coarseness. It is delicious though! You will just have to take my word for it. :D

From the perspective of a coffee amateur, I think the small hole on the front of the coffee package is for people to smell the inside..

I live in Oregon, and the closest Aldi is in California. Seeing these hauls is always a treat! I'm hopeful we'll get one in the future. :)

this tiny hole on the package of coffee is just for smelling it ;) you squish the package and the air comes from inside so you can smell if it's roasted like you want to or if it has the right aroma ;)

I'm from Australia and we pronounce it "Al-dee"! I love hearing other pronunciations of stores (another example is Ikea - Aussie's say "Eye-key-ah" whereas I think it should actually be "Ick-ee-ah"!).

Ok, so you would hate what I love to eat -- I ADORE seafood of all kinds, from the fried seafood they sell at Popeye's (seriously the best fast food seafood ANYWHERE) to sushi and sashimi from a fancy Japanese restaurant. My favorite order at my favorite sushi restaurant even includes a small portion of steamed octopus and some salmon roe -- mmmm. I also love coffee (though not as much as hot, British-style tea) and I am seriously impressed by that fair trade 100% arabica coffee. That stuff sounds AMAZING (also, Chick Fil A's coffee is fair trade too, which is worth celebrating)! I had to laugh when you described your last ex's coffee routine because I'm closer to what your dad is like, though I must confess I have a fancy Ninja Coffee Bar (but even then, it's closer to a drip coffee pot method than the French press way). I take my coffee with a splash of milk or as a homemade mocha with some Hershey's hot chocolate mix stirred in. Anyway, I wish we had an Aldi in my neck of the woods, but the closest thing we have to that right now is Trader Joe's. But if we ever get one here, I'll have to check out their selection! Oh, and I love cereal in milk! I'll even eat bowls of cereal from time to time as dinner, though I tend to prefer Wheaties, Crispix, Raisin Bran Crunch, and Grape Nuts, but I do love me some frosted mini-wheats and Honey Nut Cheerios. However, speaking from experience as someone with a mom who also hated eating cereal with milk (though with her it was because she just hated milk full stop), you should try snacking on some Reese's Puffs cereal. My mom LOVED snacking on that just straight from the box, so you might as well!

I'm glad you bought Fair Trade coffee. Harvest wouldn't have it any other way.
