@@GBobbyFergison I say that because Ezio is just perfect in every single way possible and Connor is not. Connor is not bland and he is charismatic, but you have to remember that he saw his entire village and his mother burning to death when he was 4 years old. This traumatised him, he does not even like other people touching him. He is dumb in some ways, he is stressed and acts angrily sometimes, he does not understand a lot of things properly about the other, the templars etc... you see? He is more "human" than Ezio. Ezio is a good character, of course, but he is more a idealised kind of person than a person as Connor is. Ezio is smart, is strong, skilled, he is handsome, he is good with woman, he is good with man, he is great in war strategies... all he tries to do he manages pretty much perfectly, even if it is his first time doing that. Connor on the other way have to fight much more to have his objectives completed, he suffered a lot more and this is very obvious. Even his construction and development is more believable than Ezio, remember the first kill Ezio did when he was angry and cursing the corpse and Mario said "You need to show respect, Ezio, they were fighting for what they believed", and then at the next kill Ezio just manage to be the most respectable person ever? Like out of nowhere, just hearing one single phrase and already a different person without even thinking on the meaning of that. I like Ezio but Connor was more realistic, human and I would say well-written too. Ezio has 3 entire games to develop his character and that makes him a very good character, indeed, but even with those 3 games Connor manages to be more believable than Ezio, so imagine Connor having 3 games too.

I was a far, far younger man when I played this game for the first time. Now that I'm older, I appreciate Connor. Ezio was the character I loved throughout my teenage years, and I really didn't click with Connor until I grew older, but now I appreciate him more than Ezio. Ezio is what everyone thinks they'd be like, but we're all more Connor than we are Ezio. Irrational. Naive. Unwilling to let go of ourselves or our ideals, no matter the cost. Ezio was ideal; Connor was real.

Those are exactly my thoughts, Ezio has always been more like "Hollywood style" for a way to say it, like far too ideal, with all the charm, being the ladies man and all that, except on his last years, while Connor was more naive, constantly learning from his mistakes and not that everything he believed was right, he started as this weak young man until he grew up into someone strong, ezio had a lot of help from the other assassins, Connor pretty much did everything by his own, and the problem was exactly what you said, people liked Ezio more because they projected an idea of what they wanted to be, but with Connor, they didn't like him because it was a reflection of how they are, it was like "I want to be like Ezio, he is handled a lot of things without too much effort, I don't like Connor, because he has to fight everything by himself to achieve what he wants"
@someguy1365
@someguy1365 2 жыл бұрын
@@kozak1079 I also think Connor got snubbed. I would have KILLED for 2-3 games with him. Imagine the character development; imagine watching him grow up like Ezio... I wish I could go back in time and head the development of AC3. A lot of the game's issues/community criticisms don't stem from the narrative; they stem from how little we truly got to know Connor (Unless you played the homestead missions), and the absolutely atrocious UI design. The Crafting menu was a nightmare to navigate, to name one. Wish we'd gotten more with him. Because I enjoy him the most out of all the Assassins. Edward being equal to, or a close second, solely because it felt like we got to know him more overall. But that's nothing more than a dream now, since even if they do release a new game with him, I refuse to buy anything from Ubi currently.

@@someguy1365 He really deserved a whole trilogy, the same as Bayek, the problem was that, the character development, from what I've seen most of the people described him as dull or far too serious, which makes clear they didn't play the homestead missions, yes he was serious during the main story, because most of the people he met, he didn't trust them at first sight because of 2 things, he didn't know them and considering they weren't from his land, they might have a threat as much as Charles and the templars were for his people, and 2, he was determined to hunt down Charles, he wasn't there to make friends, but in the homestead, we know how he was, literally a sweetheart to everyone, always trying to help and do his best to the people living in what we can say was his second home, like jesus christ he smiled a ton of times when he was interacting with the people living there, which you almost never see in the main story They should really have expanded his story further, maybe linked it up with the events of Unity as an older and wiser Connor, sort of like a "freedom" image aiding Arno so he wouldn't commit the same mistakes he did, and then in a different game in South America also during the revolutions (considering the time gap between the American revolution, the French revolution and the South American ones happened roughly in 40 years) to aid all of them or at least in certain countries to make the Spanish fall back, finally finishing what he started, not by giving freedom to his people, but to everyone who suffered the same fate as him, to finish his story back in the homestead, resting on the same chair where Achilles died, but with the brotherhood there with him, with a whole new family, that would have been a good story in my opinion but we can only dream about something like that now

Didn't you get Edward, Shay after Ezio? the Connor character has the least depth In my opinion, I connected with all others way more that with him. Connor was not written to his potential. He stayed the same arrogant misguided boy the whole game learning nothing. His quest eventually saw the independence of america sure, but his village was abandoned anyway, his friend and father died, Achilles died. Everything that happened to him in the epilogue was because of his own actions and I think he realised that. He is much like Altair or Ezio but without the lessons they learned in overcoming arrogance and self importance. He is like Bayek in that a sequel would do well with the character assuming they could pull it off
@biostar4

No offense, but the whole point of the game was that Connor was wrong, like everybody told him he is naive and will not have a happy ending. Lie the whole tragedy of his story that his actions in the end did not help him at all, only Juno. He learned all that at the end of the game, as I know. But of course since they cut out his speech, not many people know that.

+Boulbi Boulga I think it was mostly hated for the changes to the way you moved. I started within a couple hours of completing Revelations and the change was quite jarring. People don't like change, I guess. That and jumping from something as grand and ornate as 15th century Istanbul to the relatively dull cities in AC3 felt like a bit of a downgrade, even though it looked brilliant. Also, I think a lot of people found Connor a fairly dull character to follow after Ezio.

This is in fact my favorite assassin's creed game along with Black Flag and Rogue. I'll never forget the scene where Connor stabs Charless Lee. This soundtrack is actually divided into some parts. First you hear the sad tone of the war, then the templars forging their empire and at the end, it gives the "it is done" feeling. Then the quiet describes what it took Connor to kill every single templar and how villanously Washington and others have fooled him. The feeling of disapointment

Easily one of my 3 favourite games of the franchise and I hate that it didn't get the appreciation it deserves. I mean just listen to this soundtrack... But also Connor was such an incredibly interesting and complicated protagonist for all the hardships he went through. Man watched his mother die and spent his life waiting to avenge her and kill the man he thought was responsible, only to find out that the man responsible was a man that he admired and looked up to. He found out his father was the number 1 enemy and he found himself having to kill him by his own hand. He had every right to be angry with the world. He wasn't boring. He had a personality that was a result of a lot of pain. And it worked just fine.

Theventureguy 247 Their biggest flaw is constantly trying to replicate Ezio. The prince charming lady's men with the typical action hero upbeat snarkiness is getting old. Arno, Evie, and her brother who I can't even remember are such generic and blatant copy and pastes of Ezio that it really killed the series for me. I don't remember anything past ACIV because that was the last time after Ezio that we got someone who wasn't another clone to appease the fanboys. I don't dislike Ezio but he really is the root of the downfall of this series. He's the Cloud Strife of Assassin's Creed, fanboys can't get over him so we get characters like Arno and the Frye twins that are the Lightnings of the AC series aka dull and uninspired carbon copies that don't bring anything new to the series. Thank god Square Enix doesn't pander to their fanbase (which is equally as ungrateful, bitchy, and unwilling to experience change as most of the AC fanbase) and actually puts out new and exciting stuff without crumbling under fanboy criticism as seen with FFXV where they managed to actually give us a different character and story that reinvigorated the series instead trying to clone FF7 again.

Play ac4 then. The story, protagonist, characters, gameplay, naval combat etc is better than 3, i don’t hate ac3, i love the game but it has some flaws. The story wasn’t all that great, Connor was very bland and bitter(even Edward had a tragic life yet he managed to still have emotions) gameplay and free roam is VERY good i really enjoyed it, combat was fun and brutal but repetitive, stealth sucked hard, as you can get caught by guards in a millisecond. But overall it’s a game worth buying

Ezio went through a lot you know i love connor as well he ranks below shay to me but ezio had to see his love one die in his arm watch his brothers and father hang right in his eyes because of someone they trusted and having to dedicate his life to the assassin brotherhood like he said he didnt choose the assassin life the assassin life choose him he spent from age 19-58 being a true assassin to the cause

+dash3410 maaaates, I think we're forgetting Altair. he lost his father when he was a kid, never met his mother, his best friend betrayed him, he had to kill his mentor (he also was like his dad), his own brotherhood betrayed him and killed his wife and youngest son...yeah, he went to hell but regardless of that, he reconstructed the brotherhood and gave his WHOLE life to it, and now, he rests in peace. for me, he is hands down the best assassin along with ezio. Connor is...meh. I respect your decision, we don't need to fight, but in my personal opinion, I found him really boring and hard to follow!

This song screams alive the boiling blood of a patriot. The hunger for liberty which our founders and people just like connor helped fight for. A liberty where one man can make his own way without the tyranny of an earthly king telling him when where and how he should live. That he might live a peaceful and quiet life without the oppression of a fallible human ruler. Free to worship his God any way he so choose. Liberty which gave him right to worship or to not worship of his own agency. A liberty that allowed him to protect that faith, his home and his family and his property with a gun. Liberty to do what is right. To enact justice where wrong was committed. This song sings of liberty and the cost it took from all involved with particular attention on connor, whom like many, were thrust in the middle. Like many on history, Connor also chose the cause of liberty. Though it is said it didn't favor his people he did see the benefit in fighting the loyalists for their rule would have been far less kind to his people than the revolutionaries. Liberty my friend. This sings liberty. A liberty second to that found in the salvation Jesus Christ gives.

Assassin's Creed 3 is not the worst in the series. Know one fully understands what Connor has gone threw. He fought for his people and did not let his emotions get the best of him. This is what most of the other Assassin's lacked was to push your emotions aside and become greater. That's what makes Connor a good Assassin. And the deadliest.

The last real AC game. Once they killed Desmond, it was all downhill. The other games have been decent, especially AC4 and Origins being amazing, but the heart of the series died with Desmond. All that build up just for him to die. All that suspense with Juno, just for it to go nowhere. So yeah, this was the last true AC game for me.

I think people disliked Connor because of having Ezio, a very charismatic and likable character, for 3 games straight and then having a sudden switch to Connor, a character that was much different in nature as a product of his tragic life and also culture in general. I still felt like Connor was very humorous. But just different. I was one of those people who didn't take to Connor that much in the past, I never hated him like some people tho. He was just different, as was the game's structure in terms of supporting cast. I think that also counted a bit. Regardless though, looking back now, Connor and Haytham were two of the better written characters. Connor alone, in terms of "Assassin-ness" is probably the most badass mf. A tanky agile one-man army. One that, I think Ezio would've been proud of because of his determination and adherence to the Creed's tenets despite the Creed being basically dead in the colonies. He didn't have to adhere to the tenets or be so interested in its history and aesthetic/representation/goals. I am only saddened by the fact that Connor didn't get much information after the main events of the game. I never knew if he became a mentor or not, if he just disappeared like Achilles or if he tried to grow the brotherhood.. Or if he ventured out into the world to hunt other Templars, such as Shay, who basically "escaped him" in the Colonies. Idk if maybe there were comics about him but I honestly don't care about comics. Some characters got info later on in other games, such as Haytham, Edward... Some we got to see well after the main events of the games such as Ezio, Arno, Bayek and.... Ugh.. Kassandra & Eivor if we're to count them too despite not being assassins at all. But I never heard about Connor again :/ In the past I didn't care, but I do now. With the decay of quality in these games, I find myself appreciating the older ones a lot more. And the freaking peak of the series was right here in these 3~4 years with the Ezio trilogy, AC3 and AC Black Flag.
