That shot of Basim when he was standing on the ledge and did a superhero landing was actually inspired by Ezio when he did just like that from the ACII trailer!

also the part where the bad guy tells his guards to get on either side of the wall... that's also in ACII trailer in Venice. Just little throwbacks like that made it so much more nostalgic! And that MUSIC!!! Can't wait for the official soundtrack!

That dark figure Basim saw at the end was presumably Loki manifesting in his mind. Similar to Eivor seeing Odin in her head. From what we saw in Valhalla, it will end with a very different result.

That's what I've been wanting to see and know how that happens. Cause with Eivor, she rejected Odin at the end of the second to last arc in the game. Where as Basim and Sigurd embraced their past selves. So, I wanna see how the process happens, what triggers it and how they come to accept it.

@@si9271 Eivor is a female. You can play the male version but the way they explained that is playing the male version is like the player deciding to play as what Odin looks like instead of what the Eivor actually looks like. Which is why when you play as a female you see the male version in all of Odin's memories. Basim sees Loki as a Djinn because of his culture and he doesn't understand what Loki really is or what he's trying to do. Same with Eivor thinking that Odin was a god on their side and Valhalla was a real and good place before finding out the truth and rejecting him when Odin tried to control her.

As an Arabic native speaker I can say I'm glad they used formal Arabic language instead of picking Arabic Egyptian accent like in many games, also I can clarify some facts: Assassin is actually an Arabic word called Hashashin (حشاشين) and it was the name of group of killers who were smoking hashish (weed) hence the name Hashashin, they existed in real life in Sham region of Peninsula in Asia. First Assassin Creed was in the city of Damascus in Syria where I was actually raised, and I still remember how good they modeled the ancient city in the game to match the real one, and the name "Altair" (الطائر) means (The Bird) in Arabic.

Actually, the word hashashin is just seljuk propaganda against them. They called themselves the assassins (اساسیّین، اساسیّون), which is hard for me to translate at the moment, but "those who believe in the basics" maybe? Also i assume this game will have a variety of ethnicities (arab, armenian, kurd, greek, persian) because the name of the woman teaching basim is roshan, a persian/Kurdish name (also voiced by an iranian actress) and the mountain castle that we saw could be alamut, the starting point for the real life assassins

Technically yes it was Altair after he had wrote the codex with the plans for weapons and all that when ezio had found them it was the first time that we had seen the modified blade and ezio didn’t have to get his ringfinger cut off but the whole ritual started because of Bayek in Assassins Creed Origins after using the blade on a target his ring finger accidentally got cut off however the first person to use the hidden blade was Ayas’ ancestor and he actually welded it on the top of his forearm rather then the bottom

It’s Basim you guys, the hidden one from Valhalla that was the reincarnation of Loki. It takes place 10-20 years before Valhalla in Baghdad in Iraq, sort of the cultural centre of the world at that time. You fight one of the last cells of the order of Ancients before they were transformed into the order of the knights templars. Same is for the hidden ones that become the assassins. Basim is a thief who is noticed by the hidden ones and trained into a master assassin. His mentor the woman Roshan is ex slave from Persia. The djing you see at the end of the trailer is probably the manifestation of Loki taking over Basim, but I’m not sure. Also in the trailer if you pause at the right time you see two vikings in the bazaar. One Viking is the older Viking from the Valhalla cinematic trailer. This may indicate that the game will end when Basim and Hytham meet Sigurd in Miklagard, that what the vikings called Constantinople/Istanbul, before they went to Norway to meet Eivor. The castle you saw that was being built was Alamut castle, the first stronghold of the actual first assassin order Hashashin/Assassins in real life. There is also a book about Alamut that was the inspiration for the first ac game, worth a read if you’re a true AC fan. Alamut is mentioned in scrolls in Valhalla and Hytham was invited there by his mentor to be rewarded with a higher rank. Altaïr also went there when he was driven out of Masyaf (the Assassin fortress in AC1 and Revelations) in the middle of his life. Underneath Alamut he found a sort of first civilisation temple with all these kind of seals/keys. Keys he used to store memories of himself that Ezio found and researched in Revelations. Alamut is also explored later in life by Edward Kenway from Black Flag. It’s mostly the novels that describe these things. This game also is a more action adventure game instead of an RPG, more of a homage to the older games with the mechanics and graphics mostly from Valhalla. It’s also said by the developers that the AC franchise is split in 3 periods now. The classic action adventure games which are AC1 to Syndicate. The RPG’s Origins till Valhalla and actually also this one. And the third is their future games all connected to AC infinity. Also this trailer has a lot of trailer references to the AC2 trailer. With both assassins chasing their target, guards hiding besides the archway, the assassins looking at their target from a distance while standing on a roof and the assassins jumping to the ground with the super hero pose. I truly hope this game gives me true AC vibes. I already preordered the Collectors edition for PS5. I can’t wait. Also great reaction! *Also correct me if I’m wrong about some things :)

It's definitely going to have an Aladdin vibe to it, as preorders show an extra mission featuring Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. Personally, I don't care about the additional outfits we've been getting in previous Assassins' Creed games; wearing an Assassins' robe was fine with me. But with this, I'm hoping we get outfits similar to what Cassim wore as the King of Thieves in the movie Aladdin and the King of Thieves, or Ali Ackbar in Scooby Doo Where's My Mummy, or even Ardeth Bey in The Mummy. Heck, just for laughs, you could throw in Jafar's outfit from Aladdin; I'm sure people would love to parkour on the rooftops swinging from a crane while dressed as the most powerful sorcerer in the world.

This game I am so hyped and speechless by the style of this game is getting to use mechanics from OG format and having the story take place 20 years ago before Valhalla. 😄 Also the way of hidden blade way of welding it, you have to remove your ring finger so the blade can go through your hand with ease. With that said, you might have fun as Basim Ibn Ishaq with his journey as a street thief, novice, and way to master assassin. Also there is going to be so much to explore in this new game. Oh yea a little Easter egg of your time is that the logo is a Arabic saying that have a hidden translation in it. Also please check out Assassin’s Creed Code: Red- Federal Japan Assassin’s Creed Code: Jade- Ancient China Assassin’s Creed Code: Hexe- Old Salem “Witches?” Leap of Faith- It might show evolution of assassin’s creed games that been 15 years since the first game to now Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla: Final Chapter That is all I have to say and give. 😌 I hope you both have a wonderful day and keep up your gaming community up.

Ken, you hit the mark with what you said about this game taking AC back to its roots. I think that's what they are going for, but unfortunately, it's just for this game as far as we can tell. There are 3 other AC games being worked on alongside this one, one of which is a mobile game based in China. Another is a RPG-focused game like Valhalla set in Japan where you play more like a ninja instead of a samurai like half the other games in the market, which isn't a bad thing in itself, but we get more variety this way and it fits the assassin theme more. There's also *ANOTHER* one that is set during the Salem witch trial era, and it is creepy looking. I believe they are working something else as well, but not sure what it's about. Who knows, though--maybe we'll get a sequel to this one and there'll be another trilogy fully focused on the assassin's brotherhood aspect of the original games. Anyway, really love the positivity you guys have towards Unisoft and AC. At this point, most players, myself included, are kinda weary of Ubisoft popping out another AC game every year or two, but it's nice to see people still enjoying them for what they are and the history explored in them. Keep up the great reactions, guys!

Yes! Altaïr did redesign the hidden blade when he gained knowledge from The Apple Of Eden. However there is a second version of the redesign created by Leonardo DaVinci when Ezio Auditore asked him to build a hidden blade from schematics Ezio had found. So there’s two versions. During the peak of assassins order Altaïrs design was used but after the reformation in more modern eras, when assassins were far more spread out, Ezios version is used more.

It’s a little weird. Originally (in universe timeline) the removal of the ring finger was a mistake. Bayek (from AC Origins) released the blade while his fist was clenched so his ring finger was cut off. When he formed the Hidden Ones, one of his Hidden Ones cut off her finger as a voluntary display of loyalty. In 2 it’s implied that the fingers were removed by design and Altair improved the blades to not require the sacrifice. So that answer is… the blades required a sacrifice early on in the series but that was retconned in games that came later but were set earlier on the timeline.

It's funny. I'm currently replaying through the whole series in release order (I'm on Black Flag at the moment) and earlier in the day before you posted I was thinking to myself I wonder if Ken and Bethany have seen the Mirage trailer yet, and lo and behold! Knew you'd have to react to it, considering this franchise was a good part of what helped you get on the road to where you are now. In fact, it was searching for AC reactions that led me to your wonderful channel!😁 As for the trailer itself, it definitely has my interest piqued. Everything about it seems like a nice return to form, to the franchise's roots. The recent games since the shift to an RPG style have been fun and engaging in their own ways, but I'm of the camp who feels that they've strayed a bit too far from what the series started out as, what drew me to it. The last 3 have barely felt like Assassin's Creed to me at all. All of which is to say, I'm cautiously optimistic about this one, and seeing Basim's story should be interesting regardless of how the gameplay loop feels. Cheers!!❤️😁

4:42, what is going on there is Basim's "Ancestor" waking up in his body, who's name is Loki, the wolf was Loki's son which Odin imprisoned after hearing sort of a "vision" where he'd be killed by a wolf, however it meant more "You will fall by the wolf in sheep's clothing" not the actual wolf, Oding then found out the "prophecy" was of Loki not Fenrir (the actual wolf), he denied Loki the right to be reborn after the cataclysm called Ragnarok, ans so for vengeance for his son Loki forced himself into the "Codex" that then made all the norse gods reborn after ragnarok as sort of sleeping identities inside mortals, sort of advisors on what to do next. Loki however choses to take control over his reincarnation and assume the name of Basim, as we see in Valhalla where Basim is no longer alive but it's Loki controling his body. Loki is vengefull towrds Eivor the Wolf-kissed (Odin) becuase Oding before ragnarok imprisoned Fenrir just for being a wolf, and he was not released when the cataclysm happened, therefor Fenrir died in chains to be "forgotten". In other words Assassins Creed Mirage is a sort of prequel to Assassins Creed Valhalla, we are to continue the game where we left of in valhalla, controlign Loki as he wakes up from his slumber, in Mirage we enter the Animus as Loki, only to relieve Basim's memories, which happened before Eivor's in Valhalla. That is my explanation of the wolf at the end of the railer, a vision of a wolf, makes Loki awaken inside Basim, and slowly Loki overwrites himself over Basim, to start his vengeance against Odin, who he finds out at the end of Assassisn Creed Valhalla is Eivor.

“Assassin’s Creed meets Aladdin” is kind of what the series originated as. The Assassin Brotherhood in the first AC was based on a real Middle Eastern group. They were basically terrorist assassins. I forgot what they were called but the leap of faith was based on something they’d do where they threw themselves off buildings to their deaths to avoid capture or whatever.
@Kuhmuhnistische_Partei
@Kuhmuhnistische_Partei Жыл бұрын
The real group is actually just refered to as Assassins or Order of Assassins in English or al-Ḥaššāšīn (Arabic name in Romanized letters). They were a Shia Islamic organization and were known for assassinations - the term is derived from that group - , although it was usually done as a suicide mission. So a bit like modern terrorists, just with daggers instead of bombs and more focused on enemy leaders instead of the civilian population. They were actually a very popular secret society to write about before Assassins Creed, they appear in novels like Das Blut der Könige (The Blood of Kings) by Peter Berling in 1993, Baudolino by Umberto Eco in 2000 or Alamut by Vladimir Bartol in 1938; the Assassins Creed makers were heavily influenced by the last one. The leap of faith exists at least in Das Blut der Könige and Alamut, in both books it's a suicide act the assassins perform on command of their master to demonstrate their immense faith. In Alamut the master actually commands two people to kill themselves, one does it with a dagger, the other one jumps. It's probably based on a legend which is difficult to pinpoint. The legends tells that Henry II, Count of Champagne came to the assassins and declared he had a 10-times bigger army and could at any time defeat them, so the grandmaster of the assassins commands one of his followers to jump into his death and the guy does it, which impresses Henry II and he has to admit that the assassins have the greater army, because they are more commited. But the actual sources are basically non-existent, so it's probably just a medieval myth and not historically accurate.

Remember that Eivor’s past life as an Isu, Havi (Odin)? Well, this is twenty years before Valhalla takes place. Basim’s story, and how he becomes connected to his past Isu life “Loki”. And yes, after Altaïr reorganized the Assassin’s, and developed the hidden blade to be more “user friendly” by moving the weapon below the bracer by a couple inches away from one’s hands. However, during Aya and Bayek’s time as the founders of the Hidden One’s, they eventually made the removal of the ring finger a tradition-a rite of passage, and an eternal oath they make. Also, it serves as a tactical advantage. Though dated now, but it helped the Assassin’s assassinate their targets and also get out of life and death situations by using the blade without having them be in great pain after killing.

For some historical context, the game is set in 9th century Baghdad (capital of modern day Iraq) in the Abbasid Caliphate during the "Islamic Golden Ages" where Baghdad was the largest, most advanced in terms of culture, science, philosophy and other things as well as the most populated city on Earth at the time. The game is said to also (not all of them could be in game but some of them) contain some important historical figures like Al-Khawarizmi (known as the "Father of Algebra" as he made Algebra what it is today), Banu Musa Brothers (who made advancements in mechanical functional machines, an impressive feat of Engineering), Ibn Firaz (who made advancements most notably in Astronomy alongside Medical Science and Engineering) and several other important figures of this era. This is something you rarely see in games today (as it's either something related to either Europe, North America or Japan) so it's great to see some actual underrated and overlooked Middle Eastern representation not many westerners and even easterners known about. Plus, this AC game will be going back to it's original roots like AC 1 and the Ezio Trilogy so that's also a big factor why most people are excited for this game. As always, nice and honest reaction guys!

Your definitely not wrong the first Assassins Creed game was actually going to be, (the Prince of persia) which later become its own game and I think is based on alladin I could be wrong tho on that, this Assassins Creed Mirage is definitely a revisit to the original. The actress you mentioned is Shoreh Aghdashloo her voice is perfect for the role.

Yeah, the idea was originally a next-gen Prince of Persia with actual crowds and all that (the engine before forced them to focus on enemies only). But then they wanted to do something different with it, because a prince is basically just a guy who waits for the death of his father, so they wanted a new kind of profession for their main character, something that inheretly screams "action". They also had some book about historical secret societies as a basis, so they took the assassins idea and basically said "yeah, our new protagonist is just like a prince the second highest rank in an organisation - but it's an assassin brotherhood instead of a kingdom".

The assassins were real They were, sort of. The legends are based on the Nizari Ismailis-a breakaway group from the Ismaili branch of Shia Islam-that occupied a string of mountain castles in Syria and Iran from the end of the 11th century until the Mongol conquests in the middle of the 13th their leader was Hassan I sabah also their founder so basically Altair is his reincarnation In the assassins creed games.

Finally, *finally*, after 3 years of "Assassin's Creed" without actual Assassins, we have actual Assassins in an Assassin's Creed game. Obviously, I think people in general would contain their hype until actual gameplay, but all of it seems very promising so far. The fact that it's not an RPG, the story is incredibly similar to Ezio and Arno, the Assassins toolkit making a comeback, the setting is compact (and also a homage to AC1 which was set in Arab too!)...everything suggests they're going back to roots for real this time (cause they said this with Valhalla too, but this is the actual time it looks like they're actually listening). And also that all the stuff in the trailer are confirmed abilities: the triple assassination thingy is called Assassin's Focus, where you slow time during an assassination to chain multiple assassinations together, ofc the smoke bomb and poison mines. They've also confirmed that the parkour is inspired by Unity which has the smoothest and best parkour in the whole series. I am very excited for Mirage, I cannot wait until they show more gameplay. I have a feeling this will be good. EDIT: Yes! It's not an RPG. And it is set in 860 BC Baghdad btw.

The idea seems to be to make an own assassins creed for all the different kinds of fans instead of forcing everything into one game. Mirage will be a more classic assassins creed with focus on stealth where you want to avoid combat and Red (the Japanese shinobi thing) is more like the modern RPG ones. Jade will be a mobile game, so eh, whatever. And Hexe (which is German for 'witch' by the way) something different, probably set in 16th century Switzerland or generally 16th century Holy Roman Empire, so during the time of the witch hunting craze in Europe.
